  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Control...

I think the RedVolt batteries will likely be around $100 a pop, since Jarred said they were like 1/4 the size and power output of the the bricks. Plus they have to fit into the Redhandle.

I'm really hoping the mini-LCD is not that much. I think they are making 2 LCDs ,a pro one of which will be around $2500 or so(maybe more since it's a touch screen), and mini one for the 2/3 Scarlets which hopefully will be closer to $500. It can't be that much since the full kit fixed lens is around $4000 (and the fixed brain is $3k).

Just got caught up on this 23 Page Thread... and Im off to shoot on Location all day on a Sunday and I work 7 days a week, so I know what BUSY means.

I just find it amazing how many people ask the same questions as someone else asked just 1 or 2 pages earlier. Not 10 pages, but every 2 to 3 pages. Must be so annoying to RED.

I have good news people. October starts this coming Friday, and lasts for 31 days.

Thanks Stuart for confirming what Mark P asked. WOW! Multi camera control from one REDMOTE is so freaking awesome!!

Thanks Jim and Jarred for sharing this stuff and taking the time to comment.

I was going to stay up last night, but I thought that this morning there it would be some more photos of the New Red Epic, I glad I went to sleep. It seems that we’ve gotten for now what we’re going to get. The Red Team will release the rest when they are ready. But I was particularly intrigue by the “Red Gunner” it seems like such a really good idea for even weight displacement on the shoulder. Actually I liked them all, keep up the good work, it will be fantastic.

Let’s not forget that most Companies would have waited till the NAB 2010 to make a big splash with all the new gear, so my “hat is off” to Red.

Is that a rebreather? if yes, closed or sem-closed?

Yes, yes and yes  a Caimano AroMix - never go to the beach without one :hand:

nice avatar pawel.. almost as beautiful as your PL mount canon camera ehehehehe

The more I look at it, the more it looks like something different. On the stills I have of the module, it has a keyway... something a Fischer 3-pin does not.

Well, if it weren't for the pictures you have, I'd say maybe it's just a bad port model used on the render. I hope it's fischer, I'm ready to say goodbye to 3pin fischer to 4pin lemo adapter cables.

to me this still means that I won't be able to have mine in another 6 months at least...

That's why it would be nice to have some consolidation - either here or on RED.com of the news and answers to the questions. Who's got time to read 23 pages of posts?

I agree, it would be great if it were easy to connect / disconnect the BNCs while all three are attached without using a Trompeter.

Maybe this has been answered already, but I'm only on page 19 and I'll forget to respond to this if I wait till I'm finished reading everything.

I work in Special Services at ATT and we have a tool for BNC connectors on our T3 hand offs. Something like this:

http://tools.tycoelectronics.com/bnccoreto.html

All of our BNCs on Nortel and Fujitsu OCs have all the BNCs in very tight spaces and you would either break the connector or or fingers if you didn't use one of these.

So a tight BNC area should be no problem if you have one of these tools. We just don't need them to be a foot long, is all.

strange hat mr schmitt :hat: :biggrinjester: :conehead:

Well, this was a lot funner to read than the Sunday Edition of the Times!

I love these updates. Thanks, Jim and Jarred!

My Red One arrived yesterday. After reading this thread, I still can't decide if it was the best purchase ever or just an expensive paperweight.

Hope it's not the latter. Words of encouragement welcome. Thanks Jim! ;)

read jim's 'last time..." thread in times of doubt. there is no one in a better position in all of this than a red one owner.

Will it be possible to develop some advanced timelapse functions for the REDmote, like maybe exposure-duration ramping, iris ramping, small-increment ISO ramping, etc? Will there be any ability for open-source-style development of custom camera functions (or "apps"?) for the REDmote, for example? Jim said something about "User options times forever..." so that got me to wondering.

I know Jarred saud the Redmote USB port was for charging... but somehwo I suspect he was being a little conservative on what ELSE it could be used for.

Such as the interface port for RedRobot, the computer application that lets you completley automate your camera control...

How is that LCD attaching to the side of the body, anyway? I haven't spied any mount hols on/around the CF module...
