First Adult Movie Shot on RED

Because Hollywood is afraid to dip their dirty little fingers in it. They're scared of getting spanked by the giant Christian Viacom hand.

I'm not old enough to remember, but I think "Hollywood" was a little more liberal a few decades ago.

the part i dont understand is that there are people out there who make amazing, beautiful short films in their own homes on a DVX100. It's not like you need big budgets to make an attractive flick.

Why can't porn filmmakers get those same results except with, you know... fucking.

Dude...

First time I came across this thread (how the F did I miss it), It's almost 2:00 AM and I came across your comment;

"Why can't porn filmmakers get those same results except with, you know... fucking."

You can't imagine how funny that is after a couple of glasses of wine (and just ready to go to sleep), just pure utter giggles right now.

+1 that made me laugh too. We should make this thread a sticky...

lol, glad you guys appreciated that. Still, the sentiment is 100% sincere. :)

btw, love the show, Jas. cant wait to hear the next ep ;)

I don't remember any DPs in Eyes Wide Shut...

Wow!... pink shot on RED...totally illegal to film this stuff where I live...:( West Oz laws suck

The thing that really bugs me (besides the people with a stick up their ass banning the link) is the grading. That fake Playboy effect you often see on Photoshop Disasters. Blurring the skin tones that hard makes the focus puller look really bad, like he's been pulling something else instead.

2nd thing. Title cards, were they done in Motion or what? The first one is totally blurry and the other ones have uprezzing artifacts.

But removing a fully disclaimed link? REALLY, still? Violence totally fine, killing people on screen, great. Sex, nooooo! Right...

So totally agree with that. There's the old religious right in action right there. Porn is crap and generally bad for your brain (almost said head, boy that would have been Freudian) but to say it's worse than violence is fucked up.

BTW, I think the main reason porn is so badly produced is that nobody doing it actually gives a shit - they're all about wringing every last penny out of it. I've almost gone there a couple of times and every time I'm like, "why would I do this? No money, no honey and no creativity to boot. Better off doing another corporate".

I'm the guy that removed the link... I didn't really want to, but I think a lot of people don't realize just how much us moderators have to bend to the will of the community here. The link has an initial disclaimer, I put another disclaimer in the thread... And yet, I received a barrage of PM's and even direct e-mails telling me to take the porn off reduser. Link went up, it went down, then back up.. then down... Finally it got left off for like 2 days and then put back up for good. It's right there, in the very first post. As for "sticks up their ass", that would be about 70% of this community right now. We have to keep in mind that this is a global community and a community operated by RED.

Pretty much. I think the porn industry as a whole needs to completely re-evaluate their own product. Right now, the porn industry as a whole is in a panic, their gross revenue industry-wide has plummeted over the past couple years. It's because so much is so freely available online these days. sure the quality and bad compression really sucks, so it seems that the porn distributors could combat the free with higher quality video clips and better content.. Oh, wait, no one is making that, or at least mostly no one. It also doesn't help when 90% of all porn out there since the invention of film has all been the same damn thing. Sure there's only so much you can do with a couple people screwing, but you would think more porn producers would grow a pair of creative balls and try something new. The porn industry gets so much credit for driving sales of new home video technology and whatnot... But that's a load of BS. In reality, video porn is probably the most stagnant and un-evolved areas of video/film production out there.

:attention9ha:

One thing that the porn guys are really diving into right now is 3D, trying to ride the tsunami of 3D crap coming out of Hollyweird. But it's all being shot with two HVX200's taped together, at best, and we're doomed to see plenty of bad anaglyphic (red and blue) 3D porn over the next few years. I'm sure the interocular distances are nowhere close to right, but it doesn't matter I'll watch for the 30 seconds I need and be done before I get a headache. :biggrin5:

While I appreciate as much production value as I can find in my porn, I also acknowledge the fact that history has proven that it isn't strictly necessary. I don't know any facts on this but my instincts say that there is no other form of entertainment that has a customer base as broad. Therefore they need only play to the lowest of common denominators to make money. Let's face it, even the most poorly lit porno can still produce the money shot at home.

Q: What's the return policy on that stuff? Do they give refunds for poor production quality, and if they do who takes advantage of that? I'm sure there is a market for used porn, but I could never bring myself to buy any... ick.

@Jeff wow I didn't think there'd be that many of those. Not envying you there with the up down up down of the link (no pun).
"Stick up your ass? There's an app for that."

Porn today is hard to watch anyway. Too purpose driven, it's like they're pushing Kleenex sales instead of telling a story. Joone at least makes an effort to try and push it to something watchable which I think deserves some kudos. Then it goes down again with the talent who seem to have no acting background but a lot of attempted breeding experience.

When you have bad actors I think the crew is also less motivated to put out something great. Because, who cares? As long as stem cells get accelerated it's all good. A bit like setting out to make an epic adventure but as long as people sneeze, you're in business.

True the majority of porn is garbage, but we (the porn industry) are not making porn for "artists". We make it for people to masturbate to... and the MAJORITY of people masturbate to people fucking, not an intellectually stimulating story, unfortunately. Even though I bought a RED, I still primarily shoot my porn with the HVX200. I mostly just mess around with the RED and shoot inanimate things around my house for fun. I have shot some "lead ups" with the RED, and one scene with it, but to be honest. You can't shoot an uninterrupted sex scene using a one-maned camera without auto-focus. You would end up losing the passion and energy your two performers are giving and end up with something like... the movie this thread is about.
