haha. the debate on this thread is entertaining.

i will admit, honestly, that when i'm watching adult films there's always a part of me that is aware of both camera and choice of lensing. in that respect, i would easily judge the quality of an adult film by these characteristics, along with good casting (as yes), sometimes even a decent plot in addition. but i don't think the question is why.

the question is, why NOT?
 
Richard G i hear you if your going to watch must be entertaining... i hate movies with bad cameras and not plot ... please entertain me lol... The adult business is a 3.7 billion dollar year business... the world can come to a end with no means of economy I put my Scarlet on it lol sex will sell that is to the end of time no matter where you are in the world sex should be a stock lol

I just wonder what leads someone to post monumental common places that seems to stop any thinking and discussing.
what am i supposed to do with a proverb like "no matter what, art is art"?
does it teach anyone anything really?
All the threads at reduser are already impossibily long because of 70% useless sayings, compliments, and mountains of vague, arbitrary, solitary, useless self-referenced posts... I find it more and more difficult to read anything. Finding valuable information among hundreds of pages is a pain in the ass because of such.
That's it.
I may well be interested in technology and cameras and made with those, but I'm tired to get lost in the ocean of the diversive posts. I't difficult enough for me to translate every word from english, And I always find myself doubling the work as I have to separate all the bullshit from proper posts.
And no, I have nothing interesting to show at the moment, but I don't understand what's this got to do with anything, I probably got lost. Because of such. I I'd like to say more, but it doesn't seem to be worthwhile to waste much time, with all the things that a normal person like me has to do daily. To difficult and long. I think I'll have a look just sometimes and see if I'd be lucky. Otherwise, never mind.
 
anyway, since you talked about "making a living", with a pathetic and forgiving attitude to any possibility, I'd answer that to make art for food of for other low low low reasons is another painful vision and is one of the factors which explain why art has never been more in danger than in the last hundreds of years. No protection for artists = slave artists. Art is NOT, - or at least not only - a fucking product. Art is art.
If it's made as a product, it is made to be sold while all other matters are considered second, if at all. If it's made as art, it is made differently, and it is different. Two opposite things cannot be the same thing at the same time.
To record a song freely and withoud giving a fick about it selling well or not, and record a song in order to make a living, are two very different things in all aspects of the process and in the result, they are two separate worlds in separate galaxes.

It all leads to the way artists are considered and treated in a society.
In fact, people refer to cinema as an "industry", not an art.
It WAS an art, for some pioneers, and still is a art, for the people who have no escuse (good or bad) of having to make a living, because that changes EVERYTHING.
It is true that some may be able to make a (good or bad) compromise between making a living a and macking something that is valuable as art, but in this case, it's not really art, it's just what it is: a compromise.

Artists.... If they are thrown in the street or the market with a kick in the ass, thy will adapt to please and say anything that they think will be accepted (and this very much includes the planned shocks and scandals and whatever the merchants love to see and sell).
That's why when artists were protected, they'd never produce products, they made art instead. very little art is produced by heart here and now. In it's place, a massive and very much calculated amount of items are produced, marketed and sold (as criptic investment, mainly) as art, they have nothing to do with art. They are not meant to be art, although they are marketed as such in order to be justified by the people who "make a living" (or more, even much much more) with it.

So, let's not talk about art. It's plain and simple technology and film production here.

Tha's not to say that Zalman King doesn't make good film. I have seen some and enjoyed them. Very well made and effective. Nice industrial products. At least not the average mega-boring and completely useless (if not humiliatingly brain-rotting) blockbusters carefully made only to gain and entertain millions of families of supposed total idiots and/or other types of hypothetical hordes of idiots (that the poor "only making a living" producers and directors on top of the industry created for decades, sculping the modern society's behaviour and consumes like no others, by the way).

A bit glossy style, although. Almost alternative feeling, at the same time. Maybe just the darker and more interesting side of the mainstreem. But possibily a real part of it.

@Alberto Caprioglio people like porn that is it some people pay close attention that all i am saying another man trash is another man treasure for real... in this case the porn was clear and look good to me even had a story line .. some people love the way this flick look that is that.... i just want to see any thing you have because i am interest in what type of films you make just show me any thing no PORN please lol

Forget it. More important: what's the title of that porn movie that is said to be nice?

as I said, I have nothing to show right now, sorry. I'm writing some short movie scripts and a couple of features.
I am involved in a film by my brother, and do some shoots for it and help and logistics.
 
I think its safe to say... this may not be the first adult film shot on red... I mean come on who knows what the RED team does when they get home...
