just thought it might be interesting as a general note. This is a russian camera company and they been doing this Kinor camera for awhile. I was even thinking of getting one (before the RED) but was put off by the massive uncompressed RAW. And the general fugly look of it.

But they have been developing as well and actually are now much better then 4 years ago.

I think it a bunch of bunk. This camera has been advertised for the past 3+ years and every 6 to 8 months they increase the specs to something more amazing. And yet, I have never seen any footage from it, nor have heard of anyone actually using one.

Kinor has been around for a while, they are a real company. I think the camera is a jumble of various off the shelf parts and it's probably something they have working to some degree in their lab. If someone wants to buy one, I guess they would throw one together for you and kinda point you in the right direction for using it.

10,000fps in HD. Yeah... right...

...I'd also like to see that 9.6mm T1.9 35mm prime they have.

Where you say "on the market"...has anyone actually bought or even seen one of these mythical beasts? :icon_bs:

What I know about this could fill volumes. All I will state is "Don't worry about it."

Any Russian films shot on this? Would love to see some real footage...

Moscow is only a 2.5 hour flight from Oslo, maybe I should fly over there and RENT IT :smile5:

Maybe time to write a screenplay, Mitch? I see Dolph Lundgren as the Russian DIT, running around Moscow trying to keep his 16K camera system safe from Hollywood intelligence.

NHK has a true 16K camera and screened footage from it at NAB...it isn't a consumer camera, obviously, but they have scaled it to a "mobile" size, compared to previous years' models. It's not a scam. It's a working prototype.

The NHK camera has always been a vanity item. Just like the 32 channel sound system that shows with it.

More like a pipe dream.

Making a fancy prototype from a pile of specs is one thing. Reliably delivering in quantity at a specific price point with warranty and service to back it up is the real trick.

I have seen/used their 4K version. Not a fan. But it works. Product pictures of Russian companies are traditionally bad since none have a clue what marketing is. Most things are done in a lab by some really nice smart scientists who believe they can conquer the world with their best products... but most never make it out their. I ll give them a call and see what is the state of that thing.
