  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

A 16K Camera already on the market!

Making a fancy prototype from a pile of specs is one thing. Reliably delivering in quantity at a specific price point with warranty and service to back it up is the real trick.

well, of course, but it is still fun (to me, anyway) to be able to see the products of human ingenuity pushing the boundaries of what is possible with technology...

Well....as much as I love RED....didn't the world say that about RED before when they first announced 4K? :) They proved the world wrong and revolutionized everything.

I wouldn't discount this camera yet. Give them a chance maybe...? That would really cool if they could do 10,000fps in HD. Doesn't mean I would not use RED anymore...it means
I would have another highspeed camera to use for certain projects. I hope the best for them.

The Kinetta is still coming...

Kinor-2K vs. SMX-12A2C

Kinor-2K vs. SMX-12A2C

The resolution of the Kinor-2K is about the same as the SMX-12A2C and the SMX-12A2C is about 1/8 the price.

The ACARD DDR2-800 64GB drive should be fast enough to record 24fps into using the SMX-12A2C.

The shot of the back lighted dog inside the house and the shot from inside the car with the rear view mirror looking in focus in these SMX-12A2C test shots do not look bad, maybe better than T800 under the same lighting.

It would be better to watch AVI files, there are some short ones on the SUMIX site but not of good cinema lighted subjects.

Uncompressed 1920x1080 is not hard to work with, my system works with that size and bigger uncompressed all the way through to the filmout. It would be great if Scarlet had a data out socket for true RAW recording for those working in a studio who want cleaner images.

We have a Russian camera and the electronics did not hold up, one of our motors went "blinky" after a few hundred feet. Better to use a simple camera maybe that uses standard network and PC hardware so you can replace parts, and with true RAW data you are not locked into a format that affects the outcome.

The ACARD drive will dump to a CF card it seems, so that you get speed and the ease of CF storage along with uncompressed recording?

The new Phantom v710 can shoot 8360fps in HD. At standard def. resolution it can get to nearly 20,000fps. And that is a real camera that one can purchase today.
