New lcd monitor from smallhd

Dp1

Dp1

Got mine last week but that last review seemed to cover it, but as we test it I'll add any notes that were not on that last review.

The battery life does seem a little short but we have been able to recharge the 1st battery before the 2nd runs out. Gives those lazy second ACs something to do ha....
Dale of small hd seems to be quick to answer any questions you have as well.

Anybody ordered from EU?
I should pay duty! Any experience?????

I bought 2 of these monitors and they are very nice. I would definitely get the shade they make. It works beautifully. Made of neoprene and snaps into place and is very large but so lightweight and effective.

The cables sticking out of the top are kind of a show-stopper for me. WHY would anything be designed this way?

My guess is that it's easier/simpler to design a thin(ner) monitor with the jacks along one side as opposed to the back. Maybe the PCB design is simpler, because all the jacks are on the same plane as the board.

There is a 1/4-20 thread on the top, so you could mount it upside down and have the cables come out the bottom.

Last thing you want to have is another battery to charge, plus more cables to go wrong.

Even if it had an HDMI input you should not buy it. My small bathroom 10" LCD has HDMI and i paid 599 on best buy. its waterproof by the way. how come this people cant put one on theirs.

What you guys are about to throw your money into, is a chinese or Vietnamese LCD with 90's super-VHS technology rehoused into an aluminum case.

I own two transvideos HD ultrabrights. I have one one my Steadicam and One for handheld conditions. and the RED LCD is as accurate as this 9.000 Transvideos.

(of course with out the same features, reliability or brightness that ONLY a TRANSVIDEO can deliver)

if you're going to troll and push your transvideo commercial, at least get the facts right about the competition. the dp1 does have an hdmi input and is lightweight and battery-powered unlike your waterproof 10" bathroom lcd. i'm sure transvideo monitors are fine but the first one i googled is over $1000 and is still only ntsc so it's not really accurate to compare high priced monitoring solutions to more cost effective solutions like the dp1.

its not bad so far but needs three things.
first, a battery life indicator, as its twice conked out in the middle of shots,,,
two a red one setting for the overscan you can display all red data we just need to get the updated numbers for that to work, so far we can see half the info so that's all good. just be aware of that issue.
three and this is the deal breaker, must have a red 12v power cable, the batteries are temp at best. once these issues are addressed we will get lots of use out of it.
we lent it to a friend who used it on a canon mk II, i wasn't there so ill have to find out how that worked but they gave it a thumbs up too!

yes three batteries, sun shade, battery mount,

Thats a shame about the batteries, i haven't used mine a great deal yet, but i was told when i bought the batteries that they would run the monitor all day. It is fairly easy to see all the RED data on the screen using the overscan feature. it is a bit fiddly thats for sure. but i think small hd are bringing out a firmware udate soon tht will solve all that. i am very dissapointed to hear that about the batteries i bought though.
