Birger Lens Mount Reservations

How can i find out if my Impero is on v1.5?

Go backwards this thread and read Erik's post in which he says that after a certain day all Imperos shipped has v1.5 software.

In my case the sync light did not for the very first time after syncing the mount and the Impero but after that it has lit.

Thanks all for your ideas.

I don't think I ever yanked in my ipin cable, but the thought has crossed my mind that this could be the problem.

I did check the ipin setting in the system menu, even did it simultaneously with Jay's video when my own approach didn't fly.

Camera is out at the moment but when I get it back I'll try a reinstall of 17 then 20 to see if it makes a difference.

I cannot get the Birger mount to show up in my Bluetooth Device setup. Also the Impereo does not find it either. I connected the cable to from Impero to Birger and disconnected after a minute or so. I turned the Impereo on holding the I button but the sync light never stops flashing. I am unable to find any BEI device in the Birger app. The Impero does show up in the Bluetooth Device setup but that doesn't help as I need the mount to show. Any ideas?

Should lens metadata show up somewhere in REDCINE?
I see it on the EVF showing distance aperture etc. but can't see it anywhere in REDCINE

Anyone knows if i gotta connect the iPin cable from the R1 to the Birger mount to get lens data? Cuz right now, i got jack!! R1 on build 20.

Yes Yean. The iPin connection is how the lens data is transmitted.

I cannot get my bluetooth on my laptop or desktop to see the birger mount either. I've tried re-starting computers, and red, and unplugging the power from the birger to re-boot it. No luck.

Never heard that connecting i/data on Birger voids the waranty.
I got all documents with the mount and not even one word about it.

That's true. And it may not. But there's been quite a bit of back and forth about the subject between Red and Birger, and I'd be careful.

Nonetheless, I still can't get my computer to see my Birger's bluetooth. Anyone have any ideas?

David have you not had the Audio upgrade done yet? You gotta get your camera in soon, as the upgrade program is ending soon....
errrkk... get busy and see what we miss!!!
I've just emailed John to find out the schedule.... we are still waiting for the upgrades too (cam 2180)...!!!???!!!

And our Impero just arrived..... my god.... xmas in July... :cheers2:

Lost a Teacher and a Friend Today

Lost a Teacher and a Friend Today

I received word today that an art teacher of mine passed away. He taught the basic "how to see" class in high school. While I didn't take this class from him, he was the faculty advisor for the video yearbook so many years ago, and in many respects, he is the reason our product exists today. Diz had a great impact on my ability to see, and my ability to show others how I see.

Please honor me, by reading about my friend:

The story about the name, seems not to be done proper justice in the obituary. As I was told, he got a job at Disney Studios, as an illustrator, days before he was drafted into service in WWII. He spent his days overseas painting Disney characters on everything he could, tanks, jeeps, etc. It should be known, I have never been one to let a little exaggeration get in the way of a good story.

So sorry for the loss of your friend.

I'm a huge Frank Stella fan, and any mentor of his is god-like to me.

I never had the opportunity to have any "great" teachers... even though I went to one of the best photography schools. They always seemed to be just doing a "job" to me... no passion. I sure wish I could have known and studied under Diz. Wow... what a life!

I am sorry for your loss. it sounds like he lived his life planting seeds, always a worthy endeavor.

An observation; Birger library 19x, Red build 20 and the old version of EF 70-200mm/f2.8 L results occasionally in dropped frames. However, when the S4i option is switched off from the menus, dropped frames disappear and everything works out fine without the lens data on screen.

Thanks for sharing this Lauri. I have this same lens and dropped frames are a major problem. Basically can't use it. I'll try killing the S4i option and see if it helps.

If you are running the newest mac app, and have run "Configure Device", please reconfigure the 3rd party protocol support for "18.3.6.4". This gives the proper combination of protocol elements. If the camera is misbehaving, please disable 3rd party protocol support to determine if this is contributing to the problem. If disabling 3rd party protocol support helps camera behavior, please contact Birger for further instructions.

Can someone please explain where to find "configure device"? I can't find it in the MacApp, or is it elsewhere?

Once updated the Birger mount to version 20a the problems with the older EF 70-200mm/f2.8 have seem to disappear. In the camera have build 20.

Somebody asked how long the batteries last in the Impero. The first set of batteries ran empty in a few hours. There after put NiMH-batteries and they seem to last longer than ordinary batteries. Impero is a great tool and makes all the difference. Shot three days in row with EF 500mm lens and focusing with Impero is very accurate and convinient.

I used the same lens (70-200) with a very different problem. When i pull focus fast in any direction, it is very 'jumpy' at the start and towards the end....almost feels like the lens is playing catchup...

anyone else??

and also, i still have problems with syncing the Impero to the mount...even wjen it syncs the red sync light doesn't come on...
