  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New RED Color Science - Test Pilot Feedback Thread

Holy @#$%!!!

Thank you Red!!!

I am SO f'ing stoked! I can't even imagine what higher bit rate r3d will look like... I suppose even richer, even less noise with the new sensors... I am so be-fuking-yond exited!

More grading options/suggestions all done in Shake after processing old footage in RA 3.72B output:Camera RGB and RED Log>>>

I'm impressed, and excited, but I'm noticing that some of the versions of shots from the latest RedAlert seem a little bit less saturated in comparison to the old, expecially in the blues/ cyans. I'm wondering if you can comment on this, Graeme.

I agree, it is a touch less saturated. I see it in skin tones and in the Green of green screens. It's easy enough to give a tad more sat before rendering.

Chomping at the bit...can't wait to apply this new Color Science to some old footage that could use the magic pixie love.

Thank you, Red, for your ceaseless passion and determination to make your products (and the products of your products) the very best they can be.

P.S. If you need one more tester, the rest of my week just opened up...:drool5:

I want it now please. I've been working on a feature for nearly a year, and we color correct on a scratch system next week (is that a mistake?) ... we DO have some scenes that would GREATLY benefit from what I'm seeing here. I'd be more than happy to correct those scenes directly in redalert! Please oh please step in to save us red. You always come through!!!

No render impact on new color science.

Graeme

Yes, you're seeing the desired results :-)

amazing

amazing

So the Pilots have their builds and the tests have started to come in.. here is the thread of all threads to discuss what they are seeing.

Last monday 1 did my tests and i can only say, its amazing, send out the Build and put as a bonus the aspect ratio 4500x 1875 pixels 2.40:1 with it !! Thanks

Regards Robert red 1265

oh my, can't even imagine how something like this could be possible ... does this involve quantum physics and going in time backwards? or did you mess the blue channel before on purpose so that you could amaze us later?
anyway images explain everything, what still i've not understood is if the new build affects image capture now that i've seen that most of the magic happens in Red alert when we develop the RAW file ... will older r3ds be equal to new ones once we use the new RedAlert/RC or will newer ones be even better?
