I apologise if this question has already been asked, but how is this head with a Red package, a MB14 mattbox and an Optimo 24-290 or Master zoom ? Has any one had a test with this kind of weight

We have the unit rated for a recommended weight of 30 lbs and a maximum of 50 lbs. You can see video of the alpha unit with 2 REDs on it for a 3D trailer that was shot by visiting www.GearNex.com. Just choose the technical tab and click the blue word "Click" to see the video. You can read Brain Hamm's comments on this forum about it at http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=29072&highlight=gearnex&page=5

You may also read Obin's comments when he used it at http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=29385&highlight=gearnex.

Hope that helps, I am sure there will be more comments after the first production run ships.

Hands on with the Gearnex Gear Head by Art Adams>>>

Your website states Gear Nex comes with 190mm ball. Mitchell base as future accessary. When are you planning to come out with Mitchell base? All my support systems are Mitchell base. I have ordered one already. Do I have to wait until you come out with Mitchell base?

Hi Joseph thank you for your prompt reply but that did not really answer my question

We will be doing a test next Monday and Tuesday to load it down under conditions similar to what you are asking about, I will try and video tape the event and post for you on our Facebook GearNex Group page. The link is to join http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/group.php?gid=96160657215

Hi Shin,

I would love to know where on our website it says a 190mm ball. I think you miss read that, we have a 100mm and a 150mm ball as well as a Mitchell Plate. We decided after the show and the great feedback, the Mitchell plate will be built into the base of the unit. Then the 100mm or the 150mm ball can attach to it. Trying to save you professionals money as much as we can.

Joseph it is a very good call that you decided to put Mitchell Plate first.
Yes it was my typo. 150mm not 190mm. sorry

GearNex options list started

GearNex options list started

We just started designing our own balanced handwheels as an upgraded option since we could not find any to meet our standards. Unfortunately, we can't post pictures yet but we are pretty sure you are going to want them.

We also started the optional tilt plate design today. I am really proud of what we might be able to do here and we are designing for the price that won't break your wallet.

I love my job and very soon you will see why.

Another chance to check out the GearNex geared head...

For those who can, and would like to have a look at the GearNex geared head, GearNex will be showing it off at our booth during the JL Fisher Open House this Saturday, details below:

J.L. Fisher, SOC, ICG & ASC 4th Annual Mixer & BBQ Lunch
Saturday , May 16th 2009
10:00 AM - 4:00PM
Location: JL Fisher 1000 Isabel Street Burbank, CA 91506

This is a free event.

Had a good chat with Bret today at the Fisher event about the GearNex along with some more hands-on time (certainly more relaxed than the AJA booth at NAB).

From my perspective, pan has improved somewhat over the previous version but tilt is still a "sticky wicket". Bret indicated that he is aiming to please not just the masses but even critical folks like myself, so I look forward to following the ongoing evolution of this head.

The GearNex Gear Head is now up on our website and available for pre-order at a discounted price: Click Here

Also, keep checking the RED One Accessories and New Items sections of our website, we're adding more and more items every day.
