  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Lens shopping...

Would be cool to have the choice of, for example, either miniRED or C-mount included with 2/3"Scarlet, with the option, of course, to buy other mounts as they become available.

I have come to love the 2k images down_sampled by either FCP or Redcine. Is there a possibility that there could be a setting on future or available cameras to down-sample via hardware to 2k on the camera itself (like the Pana Genesis) as opposed to 2K windowed?

will the new red pro primes work on an Arri 235? You know we don't all get to shoot Red everyday most times we are forced based on job restrictions to shoot 35mm

Yes to scaled in camera and yes to RPP's working on film cameras.

Please Jim, if you can have an option of a B4 mount w/o an adapter.
I just put a deposit on the new Canon 4.3 HDXS zoom.

Jim is very talented and capable guy, but he can not change the laws of physics. B4 lenses do not focus all colours on the same image plane and were designed for a beam splitting prism (3 CCD systems). It is simply not possible to use them on a single sensor camera without an adapter.

The Pro Primes figures I posted have NO vignetting.

5k with Mostro at 2.4 will have to do.

Fantastic.

And Mark (OffHollywood) was the one that made the Cooke post.

I kinda figured this much, but I must dig, dig and try to force more info out in the open. Hope you can understand. Well I was kinds hoping that they may be certifiable Cook killers. You never know. :sifone:

fuji zooms

fuji zooms

As Jim said there are new pL mount lenses being released at NAB. Fujinon will release new PL mount zoom 18-85 T2 at NAB, together with details on three other zooms the 14.5-45mm T2.0, 24-180mm T2.6, and 75-400mm T2.8 - T4.0

Will be interesting to see what RED formats they cover!

Let's see the size and price. Hopefully it is a viable option for our customers.

We won't talk about specific competitors... but I will say you will be hard pressed to find better lenses than the RPP at any cost.

Jim

So basically the (FF) sensor is like a big sheet of dough and depending on what lens size/image circle you use to cut the dough that's what size biscuit you get, but at different resolutions on MysteriumX as compared to Monstro because of the difference in the pixel density (if my brain is computing it correctly) :couch:?

Jim,
Can we get a glimpse of any specs on the Primes?
Something that would be of importance would be minimum focuses.
Best Regards,
Woody

Thats the kind of post I love to see......will this be the same value as the Red One?? IE Putting the industry on it's ear type of value??

Please spill more Bean!!!

A 2/3" Scarlet is likely to have a miniRED mount or C-mount. An S35 Scarlet is likely to have a PL mount.

Jim

Not having a PL mount option on the 2/3 is at least disappointing...
I really hoped for the 2/3 scarlet to become a perfect all around ENG/16mm replacement cam.
All those beautiful S16mm lenses...
Don't do that, please.

EDIT:
It seams I've rushed with conclusions.
C-mount has 17.5mm flange and arri PL 55mm, meaning that C to PL adapter would be a viable option.
I am I correct on this?

I believe it has already been mentioned that the 2/3" scarlet can have a Nikon/Canon/PL mount other than the advertised miniRed or c-mounts.

Let's try this again. I was asked which mount would be standard on the brains, not what is every mount available. You can have just about any mount you want on any brain, including PL mount on 2/3" Scarlet.
