  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Jarred's pet dog... Izzy

as far as I know that's correct, I'm sure someone from red will chime in if that's wrong.

I sure hope they develop other lenses with Auto Focus. I work mainly on documentaries and sometimes situations get so out of control that I just need to forget about the focus and switch to AF. Now imagine with the shallower depth of field of a 2/3 rd chip. I don't want to get the 8x fixed Scarlet because I would like to build a modular system that in due time could be scalable to S35 or FF35 for other types of work, like publicity spots.

Um, you'll have to replace the brain one way or the other so why couldn't you still build a modular system?

Maybe I don't understand the "Complete Kit" Scarlet 2/3rd. It seems it is ready to shoot out of the box, and in my conservative mind, it's just another camera, that's my mistaken assumption. Would the accesories of a Full Kit Scarlet be the same ones you would get for building an FF35? I just don't know if the aim of a Complete Kit is to cover the spectre of soccer mums, meaning, its accesories don't belong to the array of the accesories meant for the rest of the line of Scarlet brains.

As far as I know, the accessories for the 'complete kit' 2/3" are exactly the same ones you'd need for any of the other brains. The complete kit is still a modular thing to the best of my knowledge. It just happens to include the basic modules you'd need to start shooting right out of the box.

So, if you wanted to upgrade later, I'm pretty sure you just pop out the 2/3 brain, and replace it with a FF35 brain, or whatever your preferred brain is.

I think the complete 2/3 is a bigger/longer brain with the modules you´ll need to shoot built in... Don´t think you can swich brain on that one, but you can put extra modules on if you want :)

I would be very interested in knowing if the Scarlet 2/3" will have a Canon FD mount available as I have a good collection of them.

Sami

There are inexpensive c-mount To FD adapters available if there is not a direct mount for them.

Takes a minute or two to change mounts. 4 Bolts out. Change mount. 4 Bolts in.

Does this mean that if I have an s35 Scarlet I can change mounts between a canon eos and a PL? (that's great if you work on different budgets)

The reason the fixed 2/3 brain is longer is to accommodate the fixed lens. Everything else should be the same as the other brains and it will come with accessories that will work on any of the other brains (but might be cheaper than the normal accessories you would buy separately).

Fixed means fixed.

Jim

Speaking of fixed...Might there be a prototype( preferably working) of the complete fixed lens 2/3 package that we might be able to get a gander at in the very near future?

2/3 inch sensor with a range from T 1.2 to T8 is very versatile.
A reminder that T 1.2 is not possible with 3 chip cameras.

Also I'd love to see more work done on improving lens image quality at T8 and beyond, even if it is a special set of lenses where optimum quality is at T8.
Niche market I know...

Hey Guys,
All looks great! Have been offline for a month or so on assignment any word on when we can BUY!!!!!!!!!! Gonna use this as stills and motion rig been dreaming about release (pun intended) for too long.

Jim, can you please say something on regards to the wide and tele adapters for fixed Scarlet? I am sure they are easy to make, though at the same time we all realize you are a little bit busy atm. Still, a lot of Scarleteers would feel much better once they heard something, if you can.
