How does silence kill actually?

What's old is the whining and demands for updates. Everyone's waiting just like you. What part of it's 2 people working their asses off don't you get? So it's taking a long time, it's delayed.... Gee, so was the camera you're using. Difference being one guy had a worth in the billion dollar neighborhood and a team, the other doesn't.

If you can't give Curt a break, get a refund and go purchase another motor system. (Most probably don't need this anyway.) Just stop your belly aching, don't you have something more important in your lives?

The issue is that they keep saying, "oh we will be shipping in the next few days" and then they don't. It's become the story of the boy who cried wolf. Take five minutes when you realize you are not going be able to keep the shipping date and post either here, or on your website that it won't be shipping. I keep my clients up to date on their project and let them know immediately when things change. I also expect that when I am the client. As far as RED goes, it was only about 4 months later than I expected..and they kept me fairly informed about what was happening.

Remember, Curt also said this 10 days ago:
One other thing to keep in mind guys.... We took peoples hard earned money up front for these products they have a right to be angry and inquisitive when we don't meet anticipated delivery dates so don't go too hard on them when they post questions and observations. We are taking all of this to heart and are doing the best we can to get these out asap.

To be honest, if I had known it was going to take this long, back in May I would have bought a bartec. I would have already paid it off and be making money with it.

Now don't get me wrong, I love what they are doing with this product, but I just want them to improve their customer service and communication.

Shawn - I always liked your posts as you seem like a clever guy, but I gotta say I find this post a bit disrespectful. What you seem to miss is the fact that some of us paid in March and was promised a system by June. Sure - it was "in development" and I did expect some delays, but it was never a "everything is subject to change - count on it" kinda deal... I was okay with that as I didn't expect my camera until July/August. I was expecting to at least have the follow focus system by the time I actually took delivery of my camera. I would never have agreed to pay in full way back then if I knew that I would be waiting this long for it. Since august/september we've been told that VF would ship "soon" and "just-a-little-longer".

On Nov. 24 I got an e-mail from VF telling me that they would be "shipping your order this week". Since then I've heard nothing except the e-mail coorspondance I've had with Curt and the posts here on Reduser. I'm tired of being told actual dates time after time that are so obviously way too optimistic.

I love what VF has set out to do, and I have every bit of faith that the VF guys are good guys (Curt - you know what I'm talking about). But I think it's unfortunate that they've taken full payment up-front and haven't been better with keeping customers in the loop about what's going on. Those of us that have paid up-front have effectively been ViewFactor-investors and I think we deserve some straight-up talk. What's getting really old is being told that shipping has been delayed weeks after a missed deadline instead of being told before. That is my main complaint here.

Listen - I totally get that this is a small two man operation, but if memory serves me right I think Curt or John said a while back that they were moving to a bigger facility and were planning on staffing up. What happened with that? Could it be that they had problems getting skilled people or maybe decided to cost-optimize and just stay the two of them to make profit-margins better? (not that I would blame them with the economy and all).

And for the record - I am actually currently thinking about pulling out of the line and getting my money back. It just doesn't make sense for me to rent any more systems when I've already "paid" for one a long time ago.

I too paid about 8 months ago with the understanding i would have to wait 2 or 3 months, but I think the finish line is very near now, and I would expect it in another month or 2 at most now.

I respect what Curt is doing and offer my support to him by leaving him with my money.....
I am sure he would rather have people complaining about updates rather then pull out there investment in him. Your probably not helping the cause by encouraging people to get a refund.

I have never complained once about his service....I spoke with him for an hour on the phone in the early days and understand the headaches that he went through with this, and other things like matteboxes ect, ect.

So I am willing to give him a break....but he is a big boy....he did take peoples money...and this is part of the business.
 
Now the delivery seems near, it would make sense for a last and exact delivery schedule update. Planning upcoming shots would be much easier with knowing do I have to rent a FF or will my VF be ready. Not everybody lives nearby big Citys with a lot of changes to rent equipment, and to do so, it needs quite a bit of organisation in advance.

While I would've liked to have gotten my FF sooner, the new goodies that are being included should be worth the wait. Basically, we are all getting the Impero Pro version. Originally, the ability to save lens data was only going to be included in the Pro version, and it was going to cost about $500 more.

I agree - that is truly awesome and the guys at VF deserve full credit for it. But I'm pretty sure the Pro version was going to be a true 3-channel unit enabling you to control both zoom, focus and iris at the same time - or am I wrong?

No your not wrong and I for one hope it will come out soon :whistling: so I can upgrade :gun:
