Just curious, how many out there are getting the VF setup to use with Nikon glass?

Me too, Nikon mostly, I hope that feature extending the focus throw for stills lenses has made it into the units that are shipping...

I can't imagine that feature would not be enabled. It's fairly simple to redefine the range of the rotation. This is something remote focus units like the Bartech BFD have done for many years. When a lens is mounted the system needs to define the physical range of the len's rotation. How this is assigned to the encoder (the knob you turn) is easy enough to define for your focusing ease.

We shipped a couple units out today. We're trying to finish off the boot loader code for firmware updates on the remaining units so we can get these out asap.

Hi Curt,

Any update on shipping the rest of the first 10 units?

Cheers, Tim.

I believe most people here need assurance, this has been quite sometimes, honestly it kills the surprised a bit already.

Curt is finishing up the final programing on the reciever. This needs to be 100% before we ship the units as it is the only way to upgrade the firmware after the units are out the door. I am building up units in the mean time and packing them just waiting the the programming to finish. Soon...very soon.

So John, you guys could theoretically ship more than 10 then on your first leg out?

Thanks for the update! Can't wait!

Sorry, I thought (from the previous posts) that some had shipped already.

So if i got it right, you guys are assembling everyday...any waiting for curt to finish his coding. And by the time the coding is finish, you will install to all inclinos that has been assemble. That would means by the time Curt finish his code, u can ship more than 10 units. Let me know if i'm right.

Maybe it's time to hire more help. This is really really beginning to drag...

I think many of you have over looked the complexity of what Curt and John are building.
Its not a simple task, and once you realize its just the brothers doing this and not a being backed by a staff of engineers you will soon realize how easy they are making all this look.

Once this is released you will see a plethora of features curt keeps adding that haven't even been discussed, and you will be very grateful.

Good things take time especially when its assembled by hand with such care.

Some level of complaining is completely justified. I paid in full 9 months ago, with expectations set that the product would be done in about 2 to 3 months. That's quite different than putting down a 10% deposit. Six months ago I got email letting me know that because some of the outer housings were out of spec due to a supplier error, things would be delayed until August. And in the last month or two it's been a constant string of week after week delay, always accompanied with little, none, or delayed communication from ViewFactor.

I find it quite embarrassing that the fundamental code to update firmware has been left to this late date. Up until now I've had a great deal of confidence in their technical expertise. But this is the first thing they've done that actually worries me. Not to point where I'm canceling my order, but close to it.

I have repeatedly let them know that I was ok with the delays, but the consistent lack of communication as to what's going on was uncool given that I'd already paid in full. They've responded that they'll try and do better. Look, I am essentially capitalizing their business, and given that I expect to told what's going on.

I agree that what they are doing is difficult and quite cool. Can't wait to get mine (I'm number 13 or so).
