  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Jim great call on the Epic X deal trade in deal. I'll wire the cash in the morning.
Can someone explain what quadHD is?
I am also very curious how all the modules will connect to one another. I hope they bolt together solid. I tend to get gigs that are rough on cameras.
 
Guess I got spoiled with all these "teasers". Maybe there's even more good news coming tomorrow (the actual December 3rd).

haha nice - hmmmm... I guess no news is coming. I think we PO'd Jim pretty early tonight - sorry. Hopefully they went home early and are getting some rest and getting on with their personal lives.

It seems simple and affordable to me. What are you comparing it to?

You have an S35 EPIC Pro Cinema brain and want and EPIC FF35 Pro Cinema Brain. It costs you $33K. Pretty simple. If you want to sell your S35 Brain, there are probably people to buy it. Doesn't get much simpler than that...

As for affordable, the same upgrade from Sony costs you well over $100K. This seems like a pretty great deal.

I can assure you that it won't get any better than this from us.

no problem, never said i was nor was i pissed, frustrated that you kept asking the same thing over and over yes. i know you were trying to help and get an answer from red, but as many others have as well, i was giving you all the release info that we were all given in clearer terms. If there was more info, im sure just like everything else, it would be clarified as needed by the red team.

so don't get your panties in a bunch about me please.
 
Hint: We should stop asking for more, and say thank you for the incredibly generous offer that's already been extended. Want a Monstro? You already have a Red One trade in plan.

Everything changes and improves in this industry. "Obsolescence Obsolete" means giving our customers a path (or paths) to upgrade to new technology so they don't have to buy a new camera every time a new sensor, feature or capability is introduced. We remain ever committed to this concept.

Although not rich myself, I totally agree.

And just a thought to consider, do you need the Red One now or the upgrade sooner then if you got in line now? Because their should be a few people who want to sell their Red One and it's upgrade so that they can downgrade to a Scarlett. That way you can cut in line?
 
Jim I have two questions:
Since everything is so modular, could we have two storage modules (probably HDD instead of CF) and record simultaneusly to be able to have two copies from the get-go?

Saves from having a laptop on-location to make copies and one copy could go for CC at the end of the day and the other in a safe place...

Anyone thought about this?

Also,
Jim, to my understanding the Fixed Lens Scarlet will have a single module that contains a battery storage and monitor. Right?
If so, can we hook that module to an Epic-X and have THE MOST portable solution for handheld or something?

My plan is to get a Fixed Lens Scarlet (without the discount) and get an EPIC-X by returning my RED One

I am amazed at what is on offer here by RED. I would be over-the-moon with any of those cameras... But I'm particularly taken with the Scarlet S35. What a beauty!

JIM and RED - Thankyou for working so tirelessly to literally revolutionise the camera/film industries. I don't think I can truly put into words just how important this is. I am sure you all know, all too well.

Uhhh, no?

Depth of field is complicated, and it is not related to relative brightness, nor is it related to the discussion at hand.

Znelson, you should look elsewhere for answers to your optics questions.
