Huh? What does this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarbanes-Oxley have to do with Jim's favorite marketing tactic of sending up trial balloons by the bushel and then picking the ones that fly the highest?
Besides on another level it's weird to be upset about it. It's not like he's making changes to a camera you already own. As far as Epic and Scarlet go we are all potential customers again. On what grounds could you get upset, you haven't even made a deposit yet.
We are more like company associates or development partners, we get the actual company news, not the glossy, finished 'this is the way it is' one-way communication that major players release.
It's always tease, tease, tease
You're happy when I'm on my knees
One day is fine and next it's black
So if you want me off your back
Well, come on and let me know...
...What the hell are you announcing now.
Seriously guys, do we really need more teases? Can't you just drop the new info on us on the 3rd and blow our collective doors off without warning. We just got done with a protracted specula-fest and subsequent camera spec orgy, I think a surprise attack might have been a better way to go with an already weary and still recovering fan base.
Hey...I have been on here for months and I haven't received my paycheck?
I just hope that they re consider their view on the RED ONE.
I felt it was a little downgraded when they announced the other cams.
I think they will work that out for the best, taking into account the experience learned with the R1 and their users.
Looking forward to December now...
Good news...
Jim
I always loved the way future was imagined in the 60 and 70!
indeed.
I feel the need to expound on what I was saying: if you look at the progression of the camera, I feel comfortable asserting that there are design elements we've all mentioned nestled firmly within the device.
Jim discovered a wealth of knowledge in the forum, and at times, a few useful suggestions...and by "few," I mean all. So he didn't create this message board as a mere lark, it was truly borne of a desire to give the people what they want. However, he now has the difficult task of deciphering messages, cataloguing and filtering useful posts, and lastly, the biggest feat of them all, trying to tie all those ephemera into a beautifully engineered, and most importantly, functionally designed product. It's like he's projecting our own dreams back to us and asking if it looks close - sort of a "What do you think guys, does it look good? Did we miss anything?"
Jim listens to each of us, but if you notice, he primarily responds when logic is outrageously in err, or ambiguous for the given task: building the film-resolution, dream camera we all would want, for the lowest price point possible. If you make intelligent observations, and add constructively to the hive, he takes note of who you are and listens a little more intently when you speak.
Really, in my conception, RED is a company that Jim started to satisfy his own desires of creating the ultimate film tool, but ultimately, he's been generous and courageous enough to share the ride with us, and humble enough to realize the road to riches lies in others. Jim seems like a pretty courteous guy to me. If you have something intelligent to add, you can guarantee it won't go unnoticed.
Jim you're like am odd mix of Batman and Santa Claus.
Ah, they finally did it. The camera that replaces your own eyes and provides stunning imagery, far more powerful than human vision. The cool thing is they have figured out how to power the whole thing though the nervous system and all recordings are made to the new brain they install in your head when you get the camera. The capacity is amazing. And they also install a RAW port in the base of the skull for going out to other devices.
Never thought I would see the day. Now I'll always have my camera with me and weight is no longer an issue.
Congrats Red team!
By the way, you guys never cease to amaze me with how you're able to keep us on the edge of our seats. This is fun.
