  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Big Change...

The 13th was insignificant...

Jim

Personally I think the most significant thing so far was the announcement of the RED ONE back in december 2005, and then the details and price at NAB 2006.... Epic and Scarlet is exciting news too, but the RED ONE was the moment things changed....

(keep it coming...)

Eirik,

I agree.

Greetings from Rome,

Emanuel :-)

Do you REALLY want us to start acting like the "other" companies? Really? Get a few more to share your opinion and we can certainly arrange that.

Why not wait to see what changed before a judgment? Just a thought.

Jim

I'm happy the way RED is acting, everything is in flow, perfect. To say, we have found the one and only way and then never change this opinion is dump. RED has proved (and not for the first time), that they listen very carefully, to the market, to the newest technology. So, why wonder, that change will happen: you just have to believe, you just have to be curious, you just have to move your mind. I have a lot of trust, that RED will choose the right way, a way not always straight and logic but targeted to a future that gives fun and better tools to all of us.

I'm hoping the announcement is "Scarlet with S35 brain ships by Christmas..."

i think it might be ready by christmas...
Red team will have hard times selling more Red ones during a full year

I'm back again to the forum with thoughts that Mysterium-X is gonna start to ship

by Christmas 24th in the incarnation of RED TWO aka Scarlet 2/3" with fixed zoom

lens that has a vibration reduction, 3K, ASA 500, DR 12+ and a price will be below 3K.

That is enough for the beginning to meet everybody.

Also other professional solution of Mysterium-X with S35 PL + Interchangeable mount

will be shown at NAB 2009 with an immediate shipping schedule.

Is this cover your expectation or needs?

16 gb flash card's

16 gb flash card's

I just hope my 16gb flash cards ship by christmas.

Me too, can someone let us know when the 16GB cards will go out the door and the new CF reader.

Been ordered now for awhile, with the latest update I hope some are going out the door now. I guess we're just backordered.

??? When will we get the cards?? Anyone?? Have some gotten their 16 GB cards already??

Thanks,

I am seeing the development of a story-like plot.
I'd say we are just about at plot point 2. The 13th being the beginning of the story on episode two of the RED Chronicles.

The RED ONE story being episode 1 of course.

What's around the next corner... and is it just another decoy?

I hate to say it, but this new announcement, following so quickly on the heels of the "big announcement" on the 13th just seems incredibly unprofessional to me. If Apple, Sony, or any other major technology company tried to pull a big stunt like this, they'd be laughed at unmercifully.

You mean like dropping the Price of a new-market device hugely from $599 to $399? No, the big ones like Apple or so wouldn't do something like that...

:bleh:

IMO a rather good explination for such an announcement is needed or it will gnaw on credibility sooner or later. It's okay to hype as long as it doesn't exeed imagination. As we know imagination of some humans is rather big. Even Apple says their (already finished) products will hit the store a few weeks after their announcements. Maybe I'm a bit oldschool but

does that look professional in costumers eyes?

I sure will get some hatred messages now...
But you want potential customer feedback and that's the question I would ask.

Back to the past or to the (near) future is just to quote Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Kind of Scarlet a.k.a RED2 was already shown there and it was in 1968.

Now is 2008.

History can be repeated.

Have a look:

Long time fan, first time poster. I must say, when I heard of this announcement, I almost s**t my pants. Huge fan of what you guys are doing Jannard. Keep up the great work.

I'd also like to say I'm a HUGE fan of your CAD work. Simply amazing.

Sure technology changes, but it doesn't change that much in a week and a half! Building up everyone's expectations like RED did on the 13th, only to say that "you ain't seen nothing yet" isn't a strategy that engenders confidence on the part of anyone. Rather, I think it suggests a real lack of confidence on the part of those inside RED as to what direction the market and the underlying technology is headed.

I'm disappointed.

Mr. Jannard has been leveraging Sarbanes-Oxley on his competition since the beginning of Red. It's a marketing strategy that obviously works and one that allows him to test the waters with new products before sending them into production. I'm personally insanely happy with all the changes to Epic, I'm sure I'll be very happy with the new changes. I'm just not sure what your upset about? Are their other companies that know the future? Is that why their so quiet about their plans.

Huh? What does this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarbanes-Oxley have to do with Jim's favorite marketing tactic of sending up trial balloons by the bushel and then picking the ones that fly the highest?

This particular post lacks a certain amount of judgment about the relationship RED has with it's customers. Through this forum, we are not the "public" that other companies make press/news releases to. We are more like company associates or development partners, we get the actual company news, not the glossy, finished 'this is the way it is' one-way communication that major players release. We respond with ideas & comments before and after news from Jannard, and don't think this goes unread or unnoticed. You should consider yourself privileged to have access to information deeply rooted in the company, not disappointed that like everyone at RED has to deal with, everything in life changes.
