  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hey! Apple! Wake up!

Hear Hear,

Common Jobs! look at what Jim's doing!

If I decide to upgrade my sensor, I want to upgrade my chip too!!!

Red has raised the bar not only in the camera industry, but all technological industries.
Unreal, is all I can say, Red is showing the way!!

Nothing short of astounding and yet very real.

…. we still “pray” for a true GLOBAL SHUTTER for advanced 3D VFX applications from stereo.

Never the less a lot of S35 and FF35 scarlets will be on our shopping list and maybe a pair (or is it a brace?) of 645 Epics.

The future is too cool to imagine!

a 28 k camera will be amazing for photogrammetric and panonramic applications (nice calibrated Scheider lens) , super cool.

If the Red one goes at 120fps in 2K mode then what speeds will the new brains go when also put into 2K(reduced K) modes?

This is the main question I have right now too.

I've been following Scarlet since it was announced, and I was very excited about it.

However, with all the hype and speculation that was never put to rest, I had my hopes up that there would be an s35 sensor that would still do highspeed. This is definitely the determining factor for my purchase.

Certainly a lot to review; the Epic S35 seems the best route for my needs.

Some specific things I'll need to know:

1. Will the Red S35 Brain mount to my Element Technica 15MM Bridge Plate? Buying a new Bridge Plate would not be a deal-killer, but not being able to use my 15MM Arri Matte Box and Follow Focus would be unfortunate.

2. What's the cost of the required accessories? I'm sure I need the DSMC I/O, the Recording Module, and REDmote. Lot of posts here, so sorry if this has been revealed elsewhere.

3. Are my existing Red Drives workable with Epic and the new RedCode?

I've been eagerly awaiting the actual release of the 16GB CF cards, but am now considering canceling that order; it's a lot of money for something that may soon be eclipsed by other storage options.

I'm sure all will be revealed as we move along.

I'll be signing up for the trade in program.

A hearty well done to all at Red!

Good shooting and best regards,

Leo

Seams like Scarlet replaced One and that the new DSMC concept is the new Scarlet...

It's official... I'm moving to Lake Forest.

I would like to know what the smallest/lightest configuration is now? I think you would need to take the scarlet and add a battery and viewfinder, so it is still relatively heavy.

Back on the boards!!! OK, my prediction of brain popularity, from most popular to least popular:

1) S35 5K Scarlet (it will fly off the shelves, by far the most popular brain.)
2) 2/3" 3K interchangeable-lens Scarlet
3) 2/3" 3K fixed-lens Scarlet
4) S35 5K Epic
5) FF35 6K Scarlet
6) FF35 6K Epic
7) 645 9KEpic
8) 617 28K Epic

I am completely blown away by everything I'm reading this morning. Thank you Jim & Team RED! I feel just like the Maxell guy...

I see the 5K Epic with PL Mount being the industry standard for rental houses. After all, we are set-up with PL mount lenses and with Anamorphics being so popular (just got a set of Elites) I believe combined with the 5K will be the ultimate image experience.

Native Adobe Workflow for EPIC & Scarlet

Native Adobe Workflow for EPIC & Scarlet

Good morning one & all,

We've been cranking out code with the RED team, lining up for the same schedule.
Next week we'll ship a full native workflow for RED in Premiere Pro CS4, After Effects CS4 and even Encore CS4 (the RED to Blu workflow).

We've come a long way since the IBC demos --- more performance, more stability, more options, and tuning it to CS4 which is architected for 64 bit systems so that you can stuff it full of memory and get that smooth as butter experience.

Import your R3D files, change resolution on the fly, pop into full resolution for some detail work, drop all the way down to 1/16th for fast cuts on a laptop --- it's all there.

We're right up to 2K at full performance with the latest drop.

Oh, and did I mention that we're working the RED gang on exposing more control on the realtime de-bayering ? ... and of course with Assimilate on making it a full, clean, raw end to end workflow ?

Expect the importer to be posted with RED and linked from Adobe before Thanksgiving. Nov 20th is looking like the date (not that dates ever change).

Many thanks to our beta-testers ... you've been awesome turning things around and helping us shape the future.

It's cool.

It's Christmas come early.

Enjoy.

Simon & the Merry Adobe Gang
Keeping you close to the lens

Most Red One accessories seem to be usable with the new system. Ok, maybe not the bottom plate, shoulder dovetail and cheeseplate, but who would want to reuse these anyway. :bleh:

Holy Shit

Holy Shit

Just went through the info page...
Amazing is not enough to describe it, but i was amazed...
All the configurations are a huge plus for all levels.
gonna read the thread now, just wanted to say a quick THANKS !!!
We're all gonna make some great looking movies...
This is very, very BIG [up to 28K!]

The fixed-lens Scarlet will be the most popular, IMHO. Generally speaking.

It's the soccamom Scarlet. :)

Among filmmakers, sure - the s35mm Scarlet is the winner, I'll be tightening my belt for that one [+ accesories], and it will be the first one to arrive ["Spring\Summer"]

But the 2/3" interchangeable is perfect too.

Everything is perfect.

Let's hope they will be close to the target release seasons. :)
