1:1 native sensor image magnify

All good stuff, but this is the big one. Congratulations to the Red team on finding a way to make it possible.

1:1 and 'record button' ... THANK YOU ;-)

Question : is 'suspend (sleep R1) / resume (wake-up R1)' anywhere on the wish list ?

Lots of good stuff here. This one is very promising.

*Added selection to playback clips using CLIP or CAMERA LOOK values

Three more things...

1. Everything that has been suggested is on the wish list. It may be categorized, as "not able to do at this time", but it is there.

2. With this firmware build, we now can begin to ship 16 GB CF CARDS. We have a lot of cards, we have a lot of CF reader/writers with 16 GB CF CARDS support - and we were just waiting on this build being approved for beta release as it has tested very well with 16 GB CF CARDS. So, you can shoot on 16 GB CF CARDS, but you need to be running Build 17 v3.4.1 or later. So, yes, to shoot on 16 GB CARDS, you have to shoot on a beta build, for the time being. All the disclaimers of shooting on a beta build apply here.

As of yesterday, we started shipping cameras with 16 GB CF CARD-supported CF reader/writers (they are CF reader/writer v2.1, for those interested). So, if your cameras have been shipped yesterday or later, you are all set for 16 GB CARDS. When your camera goes through the RED ONE upgrade program, it will also get a CF reader/writer v2.1. If we are shipping you backordered 16 GB CF CARDS before your camera is upgraded or if it shipped before 10/27, we will include a CF reader/writer v2.1 for each delivered camera under you as well as each delivered spare CF reader/writer.

3. I have emailed this firmware release announcement with a beta email blasting tool. You should be receiving the notice in your inboxes shortly. If you do not and should - we either have an old email on file for you, the email is caught in your Junk folder, OR the blasting tool screwed up :) . Please email me at brent - at - red - dot - com if it is option three and I will dig into it as a bug report.

See, and you all thought you had to wait for November 13th for interesting news.... :)

Can't wait for this one!

I just went in and saw the user programmable framelines...

SOMEBODY spent some time on that programming mode. I'm SO glad to finally find some evidence of interface polish!

Also selection of playback to respect clip settings is one of those should have been there things, but I'm very glad it was noticed and has been done.

Maybe the firmware is starting to leave the basics behind, and enter a new age of refinement?

Possible to retrace steps?

Possible to retrace steps?

I am guessing it is possible to rollback from the BETA, if at all necessary.

Just upgraded and the 1:1 is amazing along with the other features.

Mine booted in 71 seconds it feels slightly shorter wait than before but that could just be me, didnt time it before the switch over.

Thanks Brent & gang.

Andrew.

Some very cool improvements in there RED...thanks again for the continuous upgrades to RED One...much appreciated!

"Changed MAGNIFY to display 1:1 native sensor resolution."
This is definitely a "biggie" for those who sight focus RED One. Sight focusing was workable using 2:1 image magnification, especially at apertures between f/4 and further stopped down, but it should be much easier to sight focus using 1:1 image magnification - can't thank you enough for that new feature. With 1:1 magnification, doing your own sight focusing during hybrid cine/EFP and EFP production, should become significantly easier. Very, very cool...

WOOOHOOOO!

I'd like to reflect the same sentiments as above. Also, I thank you for the cross-jam / cross-gen timecode abilities!
