Ketch - I just got a confirmation to get a new (but tested) high-performance RAID storage solution with several TB's - so we don't have to worry about the storage anymore...

I am still looking however for:

A) Ride from LA to LV - happy to chink-in for gas and help behind the wheel if needed...

B) If someone in LA has a camera available, but they can't come themselves - I (and Ketch) would really appreciate if You let me operate it. Mine will not be ready until 1st week of November. I will take personal responsibility for it and deliver it back to LA in person as well...

Looking forward to see You all there!!!
This is going to be fun, Tiramisu or not... :)

Hi Peter that is a great news! In any case I also have one small 200GB G-RAID and a larger 2TB G-RAI 2, both Firewire 800 @ 7200rpm.

Really hope that some one will be coming from LA and have the possibility to give you a ride to Vegas!

Have also put the word out here in Vegas to see if I can get a spare camera for you to operate as I would very much like for you to be one of my DP's on this shoot!

Hey Ketch,

Just a common question: are you or is the facility providing insurance for all the gear we bring?

~S

Hey LilRed,

My company will provide the insurance under which this shoot is covered, and all paper work will be signed at KETCHFRAME early sunday before the meeting with TI's executive.

ciao

Excellent, Ketch! I had a hunch you had it covered.

~S

INSURANCE UPDATE:

After a second call back from my Agent it seems that the insurance from my company will not cover the gear, but only Liability of ONE MILLION with TWO MILLION max, as this is the norm, only rental facilities can provide for insurance on a time frame type coverage, as they own the gear and it is fully insured under their ownership agreement with their insurance company.

ciao

I think he can ride with me.

Call me Ketch.

Tek

Great, I think Peter will be trilled that this issue might been taken care of, hehe.

Still waiting on TI's answer for the rooms, will have an answer by tomorrow.

please forgive me:bye2: , had a little thing going with my new Mac Pro set up and deleted things out thinking of having them back it up and weren't, so please send me an other PM with your list of gear for Sunday and contact info.

Thanks tekcin

Ketch is you have a standard production insurance package you should be able to request certificates for rental gear. You may need to pay them $1 for legal reasons. Anyway, almost all productions are expected to insure the gear they rent even when renting from rental houses.

As been the first time in such a situation I trusted the current insurance carrier's agent, but in deed they only cover liability, and this is why I have been searching for a separate Insurance provider for my gear and that of others in such a situations were I have to rent and or some one else is bringing their gear on set.

Having said that it would be appreciated Evin, if you can recommend some one.

Thanks

Will all camera be on the same build? If so, is it 16 or 17?

Yes Jason,

all cameras, if there are not when they arrive, will be set up to the same Build and settings, 4k, 2:1 @ 23.98 only two cameras will be set to 2k, 2:1 @ maximum shooting speeds of 100+ fps for Ramping and slow motion effects.

Something to consider for slow motion:

For a wider field of view than 2k, and twice the resolution of 2k, I think some 3k/2:1/60fps would be a good idea. 3k also cuts better with 4k, because rather than being one fourth the resolution of 4k (like 2k is), 3k is half the resolution of 4k.

Maybe one slo-mo camera shooting 3k/2:1/60fps, and another shooting 2k/2:1/120fps would be a nice combination that would give you more options in editing.

Excellent suggestion Gibby!

Evens so we will likely cut everything in 2k and output in 2k and 1080p I do think that shooting 3k i one cam will in deed give us a better intercutting with the 4k footage.

Especially as I like to make three different DVD out of the shoot this will add variation to the images we can edit.

Did I say that I'm absolutely trilled to have you on this project?:)

Gibby - wouldn't a dedicated wide-angle ENG lens mounted on bayonet adapter give the ultimate wide angle at 120 FPS in 2K? What's the widest 2/3" You have seen people using? Does anyone coming have the bayonet adapter and some ENG lenses? I would love to see the combo in action...
