I am looking into getting some LED lighting for a long term project.

I know if a few company's out there but I wanted to see if anyone else knew of any company's to add to this list:
Thanks everyone for the info!

OK so the list of LED lighting option is now looking like this:

****UPDATED THURSDAY 2ND OF OCT 2008****

1. Nila http://www.nila.tv/ ($3000 a hit!!)

2. Litepanels http://www.s131567196.onlinehome.us/ (Seems like the standard at the moment)

3. Roso litepads http://www.rosco.com/uk/video/litepad_ho.asp (small in size but small output too)

or

http://www.luminousfilm.com/ (if they turn out to be the same at the Roso Litepads thats a good savings as they are 1/3 cheaper )

4. Kinoflo http://kinoflo.com/Lighting Fixtur...elvinTile.html (looks sweet but will be cost a bit too)

5. LED-Z http://www.led-z.com/ (35% discount to the REDUSER community) (some units cause multiple shadows so may not be idea as key or fill in many cases)

6. Flolight LED 500 and 1000 http://www.prompterpeople.com/led500.php (possibly aren't 5600k, as some are claiming they are 4200k.)

7. zylight http://www.zylight.com/servlet/StoreFront (lost of of color control, but small output)

8. TORCHLED' Dimmable LED Light Fixtures by Switronix http://switronix.com/products.php?cmd=light

9. LUX-LED60AB http://www.bebob.de/product/8705.html

10. Gekko http://www.gekkotechnology.com/

11. Coollights http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=147772

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FYI I am leaning towards 2x flolight 500's (if the color temp is close to 5600K)

The coollight option looks great as well, but need to see a decent review or test a unit. Richard whote over in dvxuser "DVXUsers will be able to get it for significantly less than the Lishuai 500 panel from Flolights--as a teaser." so if thats true and it has all those features thats great!

I like the look of the Kinoflo if the price is under $3000 I might consider it.

and a few pannels from http://www.luminousfilm.com/ (if they turn out to be the same at the Roso Litepads) if not I will get some Roso's

Litepanels are by far the most popular/professional. I personally don't like the quality of light LED's produce, but they are very handy.

I have been real pleased with the LED-Z lights I've used. I haven't bought any myself, but I first encountered them at Gibby's LART test and I've used them a couple times since. I believe they may still be having a discount for RED camera owners too.

Jeff, have you had any issues with there being multiple sources with the LED-Zs? I've been contemplating them for my first set of lights but that's the main thing worrying me.

The Rosco Litepads are dimmable, the color is fine. I bought one just to try out (6"x6"). I think we have used it for some thing almost every day of the movie I am doing right now. Tonight, there was a group of liquer bottles in the BG. I just picked up the bottles, stuufed the LitePad under the bottle's, looked great , took 30 seconds. We have used it in cars, as an eye light, taped to a laptop screen, inside a cabinet, I love em. My gaffer loves it, wants to buy a whole set (they are really cheap). Also, the quality of light from them is much softer than the Lite Panels.

Thats just my 2 cents.

I have a set of LEDz. There are definitely multiple shadows but not a problem with multiple light sources hitting the subject. As a fill or background light (that doesn't cause shadows) they are great, but as a subject light with shadow, something to definitely be aware of.

I just like them because they are small, rugged, reliable and can run off a camera battery if I need.

I'll be using 2 BRUTE9s with 2 KinoFlo Diva 400s.

Kinoflo Kelvin Tile will probably run to 3.5k - 4k$ for the panel AFAIK. But are color diable.

Flolight/Prompter are way beyound the color-temperature they state on their website. Save your money.

BH sells roscos in different shapes and sizes.

Anyone used the Zylights?

Seen 'em in person. Not a viable option for atmospheric film, only newsgathering.

We have been using Litepanels for over a year w/o any problems. The LEDz's we returned, far too harsh to be usable with out setting up several layers of diffusion, and the multiple shadows they create make them totally unusable.

I'm REALLY interested in these: http://www.prompterpeople.com/led500.php

anyone used them?

Yes, I have a set of these and they are great! The only thing that's bothering me is they have a slight greenish tint. Nothing a few gels can't take care of... I just bought a color meter and should know real soon.

But definitely a great light and I'd like to get the 1000 soon.

I heard that those NILA lights were f***king expensive, is that true? And why are those units kinda bulky?

Abu, are those led500 really that powerfull like they say? I mean, 500 watts sound unbelievably strong...

Oh JESUS!!! Just read that a single (!) Nila module costs 3000 $ !!!
What`s wrong with those people? That thing is just the aquivalent to a 200 W HMI.
