Btw at the IBC is a company that makes surround mics that clips onto the camera, and encodes it to Dolby 5.1, thus leaving 2 channels free on the Red One. From under 1000 bucks... I'll post more when I get home...

My order too took a couple more days than expected, I was kind of mad about it, and frustrated too.:angry03:
Now, I guess they knew what they were doing and they also know how to make the wait (even the 2 extra days) even worthier.

Now that we have the blueprint laid out for the upgrade procedure laid out, Most of the items in our standard service package already are performed out of necessity during the upgrade process, and post-procedure QA.

...make sure you go back to using "normal" XLR cables and not the modified ones. We will exchange the modified for normal cables at no cost to those already out in the field.

How does one tell the modified XLR adaptors from the normal ones?

Unscrew the XLR cap and see if there's a resistor in there.

It that mic you are referring to the Core Sound Tetra mic? I know that Len Moskowitz posted here earlier about the compatibility of that mic with the RED.

I bought one a couple of months ago and am in love with it. I've been recording to a separate 4 channel digital recorder but with the new audio upgrade...

How does one tell the modified XLR adaptors from the normal ones?

The modified cables are full size XLR at one end and mini-XLR at the other (and yes they have some resistors inside if yiu unscrew the full size XLR shell)

The original (and now current again) cables are mini-XLR to mini-XLR, plus a full size XLR to mini-XLR adaptor.
