On the screen-grab there is a "Update License" button; may I ask what this is for? Sounds a bit like a subscription model?

We implemented an encrypted license in this release to allow us more flexibility in the future, particularly with our larger volume OEM customers. Currently, all mounts sold are licensed for all features, in perpetuity.

Soon you can devote more time to the nuptial planning - will the wedding be shot in 4k on a Birger mount?

Funny you should ask. Having shot a family wedding or two in my time (real ginger ale footage, if you know what I mean), and been forced to sit through a wedding DVD or seven... Amy having similar feelings... we are foregoing the video coverage. Is it sacrilege to admit this on REDuser?

We hired a husband and wife team, with more of a photojournalistic style. Probably won't be many posed pictures. Really excited by their portfolio. Contracting for an album with a few dozen images at most, and all of the work product including RAW images and intermediates, so we can do something fun with the images down the road.

I really like the concept of the husband and wife team. We will each be shadowed through the day leading up to the cermony, and as we come together that day have two different vantage points documenting the experience. Love the metaphor. Love the people we are working with.

The email I never thought would come.

First batch ships over 8 days beginning Monday. Not sure where exactly in the queue I am other than it's supposed to be somewhere between the 5th and 13th.

Amy has sent what I suspect is the same email my direction as well. Strangely perfect timing in that our camera should arrive in very much the same time frame.

im 56..i hope im in the second batch. I'm going to get the birger mount. plug it in.. and then i'm going to send the whole thing to red to get my sensor cleaned.

bluetooth range?

bluetooth range?

now that orders are finally shipping (i just put mine in and should be receiving it in late august) i was wondering if anyone has released the range that the bluetooth remote can achieve. Or has anyone verified the bluetooth class (class 1-3 or 1-100 meters) which seems to dictate the range and power?

If the camera is up high, on a crane etc. with direct line of sight you have a chance to get pretty close to the theoretical range. Assuming you don't have interference from other gear in the same frequency range (2.4 GHz... which is pretty crowded.) Of course it's not going to work in all cases (eg. underwater)

If you want ridiculous bluetooth ranges, try this: http://www.aircable.net/host-xr.html
They claim 1-2 km with omni antenna and 10-30 km with directional antenna (!)

Bluetooth radio in the Birger/RED Camera Adapter is Class 1, and stock antenna is only a quarter wave. This is more like 10M range.

Is this upgradeable?
