Birger Lens Mount Reservations

Erik--

My Birger Nikon Smart Lens Mount order is among the first handful of orders. I have not contacted you since January and have not posted here in months.

The above quote is the first time I can remember you mentioning a Nikon Birger Smart Lens Mount in your posts for nearly as long.

I received an email in the Birger re-confirmation email blitz a month or two ago and answered by saying that I wanted to remain in line for a Nikon mount and asked to wait to complete payment until the Nikon mount was at least on the horizon, since it had not been mentioned by you for so long.

With this last communique, it appears that the Nikon mount is still planned and on its way.

Can you give us any estimate of how the arrival of the Nikon mount fits into your delivery plans vis a vis shipments of the Canon mount and when you will be requesting a completion of payment for the mount?

It was about a year ago that I realized what you were planning on delivering in a smart mount, and it was this realization that ultimately convinced me to go forward with my RED ONE order. I can't wait to give you my money, order up a new batch of Nikon G AFS zoom lenses and receive my mount!

Bill

Ditto. Erik, when do you estimate the Nikon mount will be ready for shipping? Please give us an idea. Thank you.

Same concern here. Thanks.

Thanks Erik! That is a great news. All I need now is Jarred to confirm that the drive cable can go to 10' and I have nice solution to all my remote applications...

BTW: Erik - where do I place an order and by when I have to do so in order to get it before September ends...?

no to 10 feet... 6 feet max... wont work reliably past that.

How u Fire Chief? Do not forget you're making history too, reduser.net as well. Birger mount born here.

E. :-)

Thanks Martin for your care. Compliments to the white nights.

Thanks Jarred...

Martin - the reason for wanting to separate the drive from the camera is not (just) the vibration - I need minimum mass as I am stabilizing with traditional centrifugal gyros (Kenyon's). I am also planing to use SSD - so that should really take care of any vibration left in the cabin. All I have to make sure now that the mount is no more then 6' away - that should be doable... Thank anyhow - Your feedback and concern is much appreciated...

Jarred - please when You get another batch - could You put one aside and send me a PM... Thank You...

I was a little more concerned with camera weight on a jib. 6 feet will help but 10 would be better.

Out of curiosity, where ac power is available,is it possible to use an extension on the camera end of the AC adapter?

Still wondering about the icable??? Will it be active in this mount?

Thanks

Which actually brings me to point 2 -

Can a sticky be posted or a new thread started without consolidated info??? I know we want to hit 5000 on this thread but.... geeeez

yes.. he should have even time for sending you a choco stripe.. or a girl with choco strip lacey heart.. who knows (lucky boy) ?..

Here is an update from Birger mount #4432. I received my mount today and it is working great. I have used it with the canon EF 28-300 zoom, EF 180mm macro and EF-S 10-22 wide. I am presently trying it out with the Canon 600mm telephoto with the 2X extender.
Also, Image stabiliazation is working perfectly and the Birger software with serial control cable worked flawlessly to control iris and focus. WELL DONE!!!
The Birger mount is real and it works!

Thanks for reporting. No hassles with the warranty issue?

So, are you connected to a laptop? How are you controlling through the serial cable?

The i-cable is not yet enabled in the camera, and we do not attach to it.

We will offer an appropriate cable for the camera to allow transfer of the lens data when the camera is able to ingest it. The three places on the camera where this would be possible are the 10pin Lens LEMO, the USB, and the i-cable.

Hooking up to the 10pin LEMO, would be a cable plugging into one of our four pin LEMOs.

The other options would require a change to our RED Camera Adapter, but not the Smart Lens Mount, and are less likely options.

Will the wired or wireless remote/ff have a focus distance read out?
