  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Soderbergh footage at NAB

It's a shame Epic won't have a 4x3 sensor so we can work properly with anamorphic lenses.

Not to sound like a broken record or anything...

Agreed

and

Agreed.

They do claim that EPIC is "full frame", so there is a bit of hope yet...

Do any of you who actually saw the footage think that these are actual frame grabs?

What do you guys think?

Is that grainy look applied in post or achieved with the camera?

Talkin about grain..

Yes, it's up to Red to keep wonderful 2.35 anamorphic alive otherwise I fear it will die. Think of watching Heat (Mann/Spinotti) shot on spherical, I shiver.

Ok guys thanks for reasuring me... that was the first I saw from this film and it was shocking... it looked nothing like the rest of the RED footy I've seen. I started wondering if the image quality really changed that much between the beta and the lastest builds LOL.

BTW, here's some more of Soderbergh+RED+a moustache: :clown2:

From the set of The Informant.

Perhaps Epic still is in development and may end up with a 4x3 sensor?

Also, perhaps the design of the Camera may end up having the controls on the smart side rather than the back?

RED has listened quite a bit to user feedback before... it certainly can't hurt to try.

I can't honestly say that I've done a lot of anamorphic work, but you can't love anamorphic over spherical that much, can you? Poor lowlight performance, razor thin DOF, no close subjects, huge weight, etc.? I know some people love the bokeh characteristics, but I just can't see putting up with the hassle.

As far as I've heard both Guerilla and the Argentine were cancelled at Cannes because Argentine wasn't finished an Soderbergh wanted both showed or none?

oh, ok. I though you were saying something like if you want to exhibit on the internet, we don't allow you to screen trailers.

makes more sense now

when is CHE cannes day? anone with the programme here?

when CHE goes out with a cannes award ...

this would be really great for red and all of us who are part of this supporting community.
thumbs pressed for soderbergh and the camera technique behind his film.

The first CHE teaser online

The first CHE teaser online

Of course it is not the official CHE movie teaser.

It is a little tribute to Che Guevara, Soderbergh's movie and RED.

A fast and dirty editing dance in FCP.

Also you could sniff a bit of a "potential" RED party atmosphere after "eventual" CHE's total triumph at Cannes.

Wed afternoon... From what I can find, the "buzz" on it is that it has all the makings of a "modern clasic" and is a favorite to win the competition.

i dont think itll win... ill be seeing it on the 22nd at 1:15 pm - salle du soixantieme.. its a 4 hour flick.. i think waltz with bashir might win.
