  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Your FIRST Scarlet Project?

in thinking about what Big Jon has said, what projects will be your first with Scarlet? I've got two features I'm writing as follow-ups to "Heart of Now" and "IFHY" -- both of which will be promoted heavily on the festival circuit next year before they're pushed forward thru a self-distribution model.

One, about a middle-aged guy and his young wife, who are compelled toward further extremes of performing sex acts on camera to keep their adult porn site afloat, is probably my next film. And realistically, I expect to go into production in the fall of 2009. I flip-flop between two working titles... "Fingerbang My Heart" and "The New Pink". but simultaneously, I'm writing a feature about a young girl who engages her girlfriends in overly-flirtatious, progressively sexual behavior in an effort to jolt some kind of reaction from her increasingly indifferent boyfriend. that one is called "Wanderlust".

the minimalist and intimate nature of these films, as well as their highly improvisational content, make the Scarlet (or should I say a trio of Scarlets?) very enticing. this week, thanks to an infusion of cash from 20th Century Fox, "Heart of Now" is finally in the black and paid for. so i've got money to burn again and look forward to owning a set of these cameras as the first investment in whichever story I decide to push forward next year.

anyone else kicking around ideas for their first Scarlet project?
 
haha! yeah, i am. and so was Big Jon. with as much time as it takes to make a feature-length indie, i can safely expect the Scarlet will be available when pre-production starts. so yeah. i'm serious. I imagine I'm not alone in thinking more than a few months ahead in terms of what motion pictures i'm going to make.

got anything in the pipeline, ethan?
 
Apart from a zillion test-shoots and other-people's-projects, my first Scarlet project would be a "miraculous" Easter short story, that would require a truly miraculous camera... and a crew of filmmaking Jedi.

Miracles do happen...

karapetkov, I have a friend who is an actor who travelled to Sofia for a lead role in a b-movie called "Mega Snake". I don't suppose you worked on that did you?

They're doing tonnes of these over here, we don't even know all of them.

But also A movies, from time to time.

I'm planning to lean towards a fantasy type story...the furniture my mom bring's back from Iran looks like something out of Lord of the Rings but cooler...We have a living history department at school so we have all the helmets and swords...Watch out for Christmas 2009...

You see, this discussion sounds fantastic. Get your stuff ready for Scarlet. I sincerely hope all of you guys do well on your projects. That is what Scarlet is really for. Do your best and hope for the best.
 
scarlet should be alright for shooting kids Christmas pageants and other home videos.
 
i think i'll break in Scarlet by shooting another Scarlet trailer.
 
Music videos....if that thing truly shoots at 120fps top end, I'll be in heaven!

Still writing mine and it's secret! Can't tip my hand until certain actors are attached. Though really I think Scarlet will be the "B" cam. I 'll probably rent a One as the A cam.
