The REDuser party at NAB will be the public unveiling of our Canon EF Cinema Lens mount. We finished pulling the demo together late last night, and we are psyched for tuesday. It would give away too much to say which lenses I am bringing, so I will simply suggest the following: I don't really want to worry about keeping track of any expensive lenses on the table; I am only bringing four lenses, two primes and two zooms, none costing more than $400 (prime) and $700 (zoom).

If you want to see how any given EF lens works on our mount, bring it to the party, and you can test drive it. Amy and I will man the table from the beginning of the event, until well after 9pm when the doors open to all comers.

I ask the following:
  • If possible, post with the lens you plan to bring, so we can get some variety going.
  • After the event, edit your post in this thread to include your complete impressions of how your lens performed, good and bad.

It should be noted, this demo was pulled together with only the glass that we have in our own library - no rentals and no loaners. Full qualification of the new stuff will happen soon after NAB. This testing will help us understand if there are any important lenses that we have to worry about.

I would bring only Canon EF 100/2,0 USM but I'm not in Vegas.

Anyway what about Sigma's EF lenses?

Far away in Europe.

Casino Austria.

All the best for RED-Birger Canon EF mount presentation and a nice party after that.

Yeah, someone please bring and test a Sigma 10-20mm F4-5.6 EX DC HSM. This is a very nice and cheap UWA lens, better than Canon's 10-22. I would be very interested to know if it will work with Birger's mount.

I'm sure the party will be too noisy to judge the noise made by the unit and the lenses' motors so it would be interesting to have your own input on this subject, Erik.

Well, it looks as though only we the european members of this community are posting as far as Vegas event is concerned. :)

Just euroids so far. Where's the first part of Reduser? Should I say last part of REDuser? :sarcasm:

I'm bringing my 24-105L f4 IS and my 50mm 1.2 - Great see you there!!!

It's for real. I saw it up close and personal. Very cool.
Now to bed. Too much beer.

Just awesome

Just awesome

I think you'll hear more from people either later tonight or tomorrow since the party is just ending now.

But I can tell you I saw it and it works as well as I had ever imagined. You put on the lens, hit one button and it quickly calibrates so that the focus is covered in a full turn of the knob. Erik had about 5 lenses there and other people brought lenses. Every Canon lens seemed to work just fine. I think I heard that a Sigma was brought in and tested and didn't work as well, but I don't think we can expect it to work with every lens because of the limitations of the lenses, not necessarily the mount.

Focus was buttery smooth and very responsive.

I didn't ask about when I'll get mine so I'll leave that question to others.

But the mount is great and I'm glad I reserved two.

I came. I saw. I believe. I brought 2 lenses and both worked great. No IS yet but will be in place by shipping which is happening fairly quickly. You guys are going to love this.

Erik is the man!

Erik is the man!

It works and there are lots of witnesses. Erik, you deserve a very special place in Red history for this great feat. To all who ordered, your dreams are about to come true. And to those who have not ordered yet, I say get your order in.
Erik has just rocked our world.

I'm a witness. I saw it with my own two eyes - it's beautiful and seemed to work flawlessly. Countless thanks to you Erik!
