I believe that fentanyl is being distributed to kill people, particularly Americans.

A drug dealer wants his customers alive, not dead. Drug dealers don't care about you, but they do care about your money. So why would they sell you a drug that is so lethal? Not to make money, that is for fucking sure.

The question is, who is behind it? Is it a foreign nation? A terrorist group? An environmental activism group? Who?

I have a friend who knows the industry well. He says that drug dealers lace cocaine with Fentanyl because they develop the reputation as having good drugs and sell more, but occasionally someone dies because it is so dangerous.

It's been around for 60 years and is commonly used in hospitals for general anesthesia and cancer patients.

The problem with fentanyl is that it is super potent and relatively cheap on the black market so it is laced with other drugs to provide the same heroin type high but a slight miscalculation on dosage can easily be fatal.

It has been around for years and has medical uses (where proper dosages are easily controlled).

My nephew was a marine in Afghanistan and when they were on patrol if a soldier was wounded instead of the morphine shots they were given a fentanyl lollipop (obviously manufactured so the dosage and mixture is well controlled) - the soldier would suck on it and if they started to pass out the lollipop would simply fall out of their mouth. The delivery from the lollipop is slow enough that they aren't likely to overdose. With street drugs snorted or injected the administration is immediate so too fast to figure if the dose is too much and the only help would be to administer naloxone pretty immediately. (I have three firefighter paramedics in my immediate family that deal with heroin and fentanyl overdoses fairly often)

considering this discussion is about opiates, anyone that knows a little about the Afghan countryside
can see the irony in this.

Hope your nephew made it back ok.
