  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED V-Raptor versus V-Raptor XL - Discussion

My questions which I have found some answers to

Is there any word on what the nd range is? -

Motorized clear filter and precision controlled electronic ND filter
Electronic ND minimum density 2 stops, maximum density 7 stops Electronic ND selectable increments of 1/3 stops, 1/4 stops, and 1 stop

If there is a swapable olpf? I like to use the kippertie filters

Is there a canon mount -

Interchangeable lens mount, included V-RAPTOR XL PL Mount (shimmable) Optional V-RAPTOR XL Locking Canon EF Mount
Physically compatible with DSMC Lens Mounts, but does not provide electronic communication or control

I guess that means the old canon mount does not work, only dumb mounts?

That sensor spit thing, is it a thing?

Is it quiter, or better in hotter conditions?

The evf situation?

All new intelligent focus? I would like to know what that means -

Contrast and Phase Detect

What is the ip steamed 1080 usbc wireless video?

What range is the wifi control?

Any accessories from dsmc2 that can be used with this camera? Or does any clever clogs have some sort of adapter cable to use the monitors from dsmc2

I didn't hear hard specs on the E-ND, but that's interesting if it's CLR and 0.6-2.1. Decent range.

Sounds like they are planning a Canon EF Mount. I know of 3rd party "dumb mounts" incoming for a lot of other things.

DSMC and DSMC2 Mounts work, but yes they are "dumb" as there are new electronics and other things.

Camera should be quieter overall as it has a larger body with a different cooling scheme.

Yes, RED is working on an EVF.

AF is still Phase and Contrast Detect.

WiFi Video = 1080p for now. There's other ways to stream out of these cameras very recently, including getting REDCODE RAW out of the camera as well, currently up to 8K 60p.

Don't know WiFi Range.

DSMC2 Monitors don't work with DSMC3 to date. Different OS and different protocols from older monitors to newer ones. That was answers a long while back.

Body size. V-Raptor XL is in the same physical size class as the A35. Weight-wise, close, but more cheese to mount to on XL natively. If you need much lighter weight, the regular V-Raptor is significantly smaller.
