When will RED.com be updated with new pictures / renders of the RED camera?

soon...

I would hazard a guess that some updates will come on the 21st... When they re-open the reservations.

Ah yes. The photo gallery is a lot more detailed, and has images where you can see where a lot of the connectors are, and make reasonable guesses at what a lot of them do.

I can see five mini XLR connectors on the right. I'm guessing 4 channel audio plus time-code in, although then I don't know where the time-code out is.

4 channel inputs, one mixed output :)

look at the other port for TC in and out.

Thanks Jarred. I was confused by the gender of the XLRs all being the same, so I assumed they were all inputs. Probably reading far too much into things! I know the renders are always just representative, but they're just getting so tantalisingly close to the real thing.

hay Jannard!!.. how about a viewfinder to your Oakley sunny range? huh.. someone tell me why this might be a bad idea so i can stop making a fool of myself.

What are the odds a thread is started about the updating of red's website a few minutes before it actually is updated? You guys are tricky.
I love the new renders by the way.
Thanks

Updated now :)

Jim wansn't kidding when he said "soon..." Hehe...

Oh, wait a minute... I could swear those renders were there a day or two ago. What am I missing?

The pictures are great! It looks like a healthy ecosystem of clamps and widgets has been finalised. It's going to be excellent displacement activity playing with all the possible configurations.

Thanks for all the new renders, guys. I'm particularly liking the resolution - I can actually see all the details and answer all of my past questions regarding mounting points. It's also nice to finally see the EVF from the other side [to see how it mounts].

SO F'ING EXCITING!

It looks amazing, and it feels like we're all a PART of something, part of "the evolution".

Into IT, before IT even exists (in the marketplace anyway).WOW, that's good...

Nice work Boys!

Jim, The contrast from what you are providing in the way of photos and access compared to any other company is groundbreaking.

Guys, if this were any other consumer products company, with a product this hot and this talked about (apple comes to mind) at this point in the development cycle the only photos we would be able to see would be blurry, shakey pictures taken with a cell phone of a fake.

What Jim and the Red team is giving the world in the way of access not only jumps several generations over everyone else right out of the gate--I think their openness and the feedback loop they've created allowed them to jump several generations of their own product right before our eyes.

Love the photos, love the high resolution that only leaves to the imagination the function and feature of each button and port.

Keep up the amazing work and I am counting the days when I can get my hands on #516!!!

Best Regards,

Thom

You're much sharper than I am Brook - the mechanics of the EVF mount is the one thing I couldn't quite figure out. Oh well, all in good time,

First point - these are wonderful renders and communicate an enormous amount to us addicts. I've been drooling over them for over an hour. I think the design is a work of art - pure and simple. I was working on some Budweiser Super Bowl ads today and showed Red.com to a top Anheuser-Busch marketing heavyweight. and he immediately said "holy shit, that looks fucking cool!" and began forwarding it all over the place. Red makes quite a first impression. Kudos to Jim and his design partner for persevering.

From the standpoint of aesthetics, i wouldn't change one bolt. I hope the battle is now focused squarely on making Red-one functional, robust and operationally flawless - and if that means now covering the body with twenty more vents, so be it.

I have a few tiny comments / questions:

1.) Will the shoulder mount be able to slide forward for balance?

2.) Can the EVF be mounted further forward (for the obvious reasons)?

3.) Can't help myself - could the funky 'top hat' that sits above the camera have one additional mounting point just in front of the handle mount? This would be very handy for EVF, mic mount, etc. And yes, this will ruin the lovely symmetry and look stupid.... but....

4.) Quirky idea - I was just checking out a dbeta deck and had a thought. Would it be crazy to offer a "key inhibit" switch to prevent accidentally bumping buttons during filming? I've never seen this on a camera, but I think it would be very useful.

Thanks Red team - you deserve, uh... sleep.
