Hey guys, completely non-red related, but i figured some of you might dig this anyway.
After a couple of months of keeping my mouth firmly shut, I can now let you guys see my latest directing piece. Produced with blood, sweat, gritted teeth and a stunning attention to detail, by Axis Animation in Glasgow.
Definitely the best looking spot I've ever directed.

Watch LARGE & LOUD if possible

That.... Was fantastic! Great great work. Some really impressing simulations in that piece aswell, must have been fantastic to work with Axis animation that always produce such nice stuff :)

Yes, this was a great E3 piece!!! Awesome work! I'm surprised you couldn't talk about it sooner since it was already revealed their. Either way, great job!

This and all the Spartan Ops cinematics really impressed me

Just rewatched this as it popped up on my feed. The subtle cymbal hit in the first 10 seconds, the same sound as the beginning of one of the Halo theme,s was an awesome little hint at what it was before the reveal. Looks fantastic.

This was a treat of a spot/teaser this year. I got a handful of friends over at 343. Loved how this turned out.

John what was used mostly for the CG?

Not sure what 343 (post house?) uses for software.

Im a fanatic on 3D workflows ;)

All of the work was done at Axis Animation In Glasgow, rather than 343. Modeling in a bunch of things, animation in Maya ( apart from the cloak, which was Marvelous Designer 2), all point cached over to Houdini, FX animation in Houdini, naturally, all rendered in a highly customised version of Mantra. Out to multi-layered EXR's and finally comped in Fusion.

Thanks John, my fave is the cloak. That would be one hell of a N-Cloth job in Maya.
No experience with Marvelous Designer or Houdini but looked great in the end.

Link no longer working John.

The video has been removed/made private from Vimeo... did a quick Google and (apparently) its to do with the 'is this or is this not' the official Halo 5.

I'm sure John can detail this out.
