  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The "LED" light Group Buy

Not just any "BTS", shot on Red Epic "BTS" which means output in full 4K and tone of Frame Grabs from it to accompany, here will be showcased an other true potential of the Red Epic for any work ... ;)

And thank you Jeremiah, wanted to go to the California Beaches I haven't seen a long time, but I need to stay in Hollywood and finish things up for tomorrow 's shoot... ;)

Sorry guys, been super busy with Pre-Production for my short film, but should have a final meeting and an answer by end of next week.

Sounds good. Hoping for the best. Do you meet them today or in the weekend?

I went ahead and ordered one this week (couldn't wait) but may still be able to scrounge together the funds to buy a second (I got the 2 slot case figuring I'd want a second unit eventually). The first group buy really was a great deal... I think I was in for $3100 by the time I got all the accessories I wanted, not including a pair of batteries and charger.

Hey Joel, it is meant to be for this weekend, but in all honesty now I must truly put my head down to get "The RED dress" short shot on Dragon Y Mono, to post and get it out, I promise at the same time that I will stay on tip of this and get it done before I got back to Italy.

Well, hopefuly we'll get this second run going and you'll be able to save on the next purchase David!!

Been home a while now and going through some of the work in the last few months, here is just a quick peek of the use of the Area 48 in use in the field, works better than expected and with the batt mount Im able to take it just about anywhere.
These frame grabs were just quickly pulled to give an idea of how it was used. Not a lot of coloring done so Ill be really looking forward to the final when its done.
Thanks B&B, Ketch and everyone else who made this possible.

Wes, unfortunately the group buy had already taken place and closed some time ago, but I am in the process to see the possibility for a second run at it, then you'll be kept in mind if it happens, just make sure to keep updated with this thread, as if it happens will be over very quickly, only like 24 or 48hours tops.

Definitley in for two of them if it happens again.

Man that output from your shoot is amazing Ketch.

Glad you like them too Matt, I keep telling people that there is no LED fixtures like this out there, I know my lights, Love to light a scene up, and the Area 48 allow me to do it any were any time, power or not... ;)

People, lots of people will be very surprise when they see the Short Film I shot with them, and any Photographer will also be very surprise when they see the frame Grabs form Dragon and Monochrome form the same shoot.

Can anyone who's bought the Area 48 comment on how it compares in terms of:

- Strength of light output
- Colour rendition on skin
- General practically and flexibility

When compared to a standard 2' 4-bank Kino Diva 401?

I'm in the market for a softlight. And very used to the Kino 401 and what it can deliver (which is a lot). I'd love to hear how the Area 48 compares, where it does better than the Kino and where it does worse.

Cheers,

Mark

Is this happening again, Ketch?
Hope so, but understand you're on your short now.
Besos.

Mark, the Area 48, are no doubt the absolute BEST LED light source I have ever worked with, and when "The RED dress" Short Film SHot on the Red Epic Dragon & Red Epic Monochrome cameras comes out, you'll see what I mean, color rendition is absolute FANTASTIC and Skin renders also incredibly BEAUTIFULLY!!

ANd every one present at the shooting at RED STUDIOS HOLLYWOOD will tell you exactly the same thing!!

Alvise, I am still trying to make this happen, I do not have an answer yet, but as soon as I do have it, I'll post here immediately.

Ketch, are we talking about two weeks or more before we have a answer or not?

I am working on it guys, but as I said, it has become very difficult to arrange for a second group buy for more then one reason, yet I have not given up on you guys as of yet, I will make it so that no later then by next weekend, I'll have a final answer, either a yes and what terms and or a sad no.

GREAT BTS shots - thanks for getting these posted! Looks like a great rig - very clean setup

Thanks Jerry,

you'll be seen more as Ryan Postas, our BTS Cinematographer for "The RED dress" short film shoot, we'll pull Frame Grabs form the Red Epic footage He shot, additionally there is the Interviews were we talk about them, and they are also been shot as part of the Short Film itself shot on Dragon, so there will be lot more coming about them.
