Of course everyone is going to spend a ton of time at the RED booth this year, but what other booths are you excited to see (Or hear about)?

The Finner Team is putting together our 5th annual NAB map, and we would love your input!

Im in the market for a 4k broadcast colour grading monitor to replace my Sony glass BVM so i hope there are plenty to choose from at NAB

Blackmagic is rumoured to be releasing a monitor, but chances are it will be 1080p.

I'm hoping for a 4k FSI monitor at some point here =)

gah, I'd really go for an affordable 1080p 10bit grading monitor that didnt require me to do terrible things to own one

I'm looking forward to trying out this guy:

pretty amazing looking lens.

While you're at Fujinon also check out the new Cabrio 85-300mm. That and the Cabrio 19-90 will make a way versatile 2-lens kit for a wide variety of Red Epic scenarios - alternately cine style with a follow focus or EFP/ENG style with the servo.

Check out the new Miller Skyline 70 head. We're currently field testing one with our Red Epic/Screen Plane 3D rig...with excellent results.

Thanks for the heads up! Definitely have to check them out. It's been a while since I've used a Miller head.

Are you going to make it out to NAB this year?

Looking forward to seeing nila, light, high powered led lights

At Golden Gate 3D we own and use a wide variety of Miller head and leg combinations depending on whether the production is 3D or 2D, shot cine style or EFP style, and what the head/leg load demands are. The heads we use are Compass 15, Compass 25, Arrow 55, and Skyline 70. Legs we use are either mid-spreader CF (like Sprinter II), or spreaderless CF (like the SOLO series). We don't rent out our equipment so we're not constrained by demands in some corners of the motion media industry to use certain brands of heads and legs. We simply look for the best performance to price ratio we can get in head/leg combos - and to us that is Miller.

The camera systems we own and use on those Miller head/leg combos, in both 3D and 2D setups, are mostly Red Epic (including our Epic/Screen Plane 3D rigs) and Nikon D800E (Camblock 3D time lapse setups). We also occasionally use Canon C500 and C300 setups, Sony F55 and F5 setups, and Canon XF300 and XF100 setups for some hyper-mobile 2D documentary work.

Last year I couldn't make it to NAB because i was in Austria all of April filming pro snowboarders in the Alps for Nike. But I'll definitely make it to NAB this year! C-ya there...

Pomfort software might be worth a visit.

The Digital Bolex folks will be hanging out there too with a ( hopefully) working prototype of the D16.

Must see places for me:

RED, of course.

Angenieux, Fujinon, BandPro, HP, Kessler, O'Connor, Miller, ARRI, BlackMagic, AJA, The Foundry/ Luxology, Promise, Tolis Group... All of those are products I use and they usually have new stuff to show and talk about. Other than Angie, ARRI and Fuji, I know people at all those companies and they often are there at the booths, so I love to just say "hi".

Those are just the ones off the top of my head. I'm making a list of others though. A lot depends on what I'm shopping for. This year I'm taking another look at wireless audio and audio mixing/ recording solutions as well as lighting. I haven't bought any new audio gear or lights in the past couple years and I really need to augment my kit, especially for audio.

Still, my primary reason for going to NAB is still the RED community and I'm hoping to see a much more capable version of the projector this year and get some real information about it. My theatre/ screening/ coloring room is on hold until I can get a better idea of what I need to accommodate the REDRAY projector. Mostly, I just need to know what I have to do for power requirements and optimal placement for my intended screen size.

Other places and things I'm going to check out as well... Vision Research, those Scorpio anamorphics that were announced last year, ViewFactor (if they have a booth) so I can give Curt a hard time, MYT Works -- old school dollys and whatnot that I really like. Zaxxcomm -- really liked their wireless audio solutions last year. Orbotix -- radio controlled rolling balls equipped with cameras. They're local to me and work next to others I know, but I've never made contact with them before. Hmmm... I'll check out Canon, Sony, Zeiss, etc.. Oh, Schneider for sure, I want to get a better look at those Cine Xenar III lenses.

I'm pretty much 100% going for Red and I have a couple meetings scheduled. Good to see a few folks that I don't get to see more than once or twice a year as well.

Pretty sure Arri/Zeiss will be showing the full range of Master Anamorphics at NAB for those who like things squeezed.

Curious to see what's new on the motion control and lighting front. Support-wise I'm looking for more remote head options. Curious if anything like that will be there.

@Jeff - Those Cine Xenar III lenses really are impressive. Can't say enough about them. I'll likely be picking up a set of those post NAB unless there's something new on display that takes me another way.

Anyone using Avid MC, who'd like to be able to finish there without jumping into Resolve and back, should stop by FilmLight's booth and check out the Baselight Editions. It is a full blown Baselight plugin for MC 6 and up. It is fully GPU accelerated, supports MC Color and soon Element panels. Anyone who had used standard Baselight will be very comfortable using this plugin. Initially I was very skeptical of it's usefulness, especially after seeing the FCP implementation, but on Avid it's a real thing. I'm a convert. Avid MC now has real color grading capabilities.

WE Beta tested this plug-in and LOVE it too.
