I did a little test shoot from a hill top above Los Angeles.
I am getting 6K resolution with my 'special' post processing. The footage was captures at 4K with a Scarlet.
If you take the time to look, I think you will agree that there has never been any footage like this from a Red camera anywhere.
I venture to guess that it is similar or higher in detail that is available from the Monochrome Epic, but in color. Yep.
Maybe I'm wrong on the above, so I would invite a test shootout here in LA if someone is interested in this.

here is the 6K still ( you should download and open in photoshop ) : http://www.mediafire.com/view/?wsoa6f3eemfd2ej

and the 1920 center crop XVID compressed ( not resized, frame rate reduced to 3 fps to allow you to see detail ) :

and another link for 6k still image ( Thanks Pablo ) : http://biz77.myvnc.com/6k_LA_steady_.00015.jpg

Here are dropbox links, in case media fire is screwy :

edit: I though I'd insert some of the latest images here as well. Compares a 'regular' camera with what I'm working on lately:

I shot this test at the Rose Bowl.

The same lens was used on both cameras, a 50mm zeiss at f8. Both cameras shot 4K 24fps, redcode 6:1.

First, here are some 1:1 crops. On the camera with OLPF, I processed in RCX and resized to 6K ( lanczos ) and sharpened in Fusion.
The other is my 6K process.

There are at least three of us here on RU that have done 8K, 16K, and 24K utilizing multiple R1 and Epics or single camera offset from about 2008 on.

Phil, this is single camera, non-stitched.
As easy to shoot as anything else on the Scarlet.

Sound awesome!
I'm only seeing a 1024px wide jpg though, and mediafire says the avi violates their terms of service (?)

Interested too, says "File blocked"

Explain yourself man! :).

No seriously.

Les...you are teasing again!
i only get a small jpeg when i click on the first link.....
how long did it take you this time to get the file? hours? days?

Super awesome! at 100% zoom in Photoshop, I cannot distinguish any pixelation. In fact, it look like film on the big screen. What kind of enlargement technique are you using?

Stupid mediafire.... let me look into the issue. You should get a mediafire page for the still image that lets you click download to save the 14mb image.
Not sure about the video, it's not like a copyright issue !

Are you seeing the full 6K image, Pablo ?

Are you going to let us in on your little secret? That looks damn good for being a 4k up-rez... unless it isn't an up-rez and you are gathering more horizontal and vertical information from other frames...

So your pulling Y of the sensor and using that for the detail plus subsampling between pixels ?
