Scarlet Deal of a Lifetime

Absolutely agreed. That´s why I can´t even sell my old stuff to my friends (unless they insist), because I´d have to tell them that this would not be the best they could get :)
I sometimes wish I had a better business mind ...

I suffer from the same reluctance to make money off of friends or family. '-)

I can guarantee you that they were not used on Stratos. They used Red Ones and Jarred mentioned in a post mentioning that they did that was because a lot or R&D went into building special enclosures for them so they could be used in space and Epics were not available when they started planning. When it came time for the jump they had to use what they had as to not delay the jump and make sure it was shot on the highest quality cameras they could with out risking any glitches or damages to cameras that went up.

Plus I feel like if they did send a DSMC camera up it would have 100% been an epic and if they did sell the cameras that went into space, they would be easily able to sell them at a premium and market to the world that they were Stratos used cameras (since the event had already happened)

Additionally, I'm pretty sure the image we saw (of the cameras set up in a circle) was an image from the actual set up used.

And by the way... I don't remember reading a post in this thread where any one is offering to sell their BTScarlet. All I've seen so far are people asking for someone to sell them a Scarlet. Where do they fall in the dirtbag graph?

There was someone in the Selling Red Gear section who had specifically stated they were selling a BT Scarlet...that's why it was said. I personally feel it was an opportunistic markup and ethically I have a problem with that (even though we live in a free market system), but it's not me doing the selling. I'm more than happy I got in under the deadline to get one of these and complement my Epics.

Same here. I reserved a Scarlet when they first came out but had to turn it back because I didn't have the funds to complete the transaction. This deal came along and I weighed upgrading one of my Epics to Dragon against adding the Scarlet. I opted for the Scarlet after Jarred announced there would be a delay in the Dragon program due to needing an update to the ASIC. Some who may offer to sell may be having (financial, not value) buyer's remorse.

It's difficult to know a person's reason for offering to sell, but assuming the worst even a ticket scalper serves a purpose for someone with the means to pay the inflated price. I see it as being someone trying to make a living. Until we've walked in their shoes, I feel we take too much on ourselves to label them as scum or dirtbags. Not everyone enjoys la dolce vita.

How much can they really make on something like that? Transfer of ownership, cost of used Scarlet's isn't list, and no warranty once it's passed on save for 90 Days... I think it would be more of a favor someone going through, the buying, receiving, shipping etc for what $1,000, maybe $1500 profit... Unless they bought 50 of them, then I'm on your side.

Tracking number received. Extremely stoked on this. Excited to have my videos finally up to the same quality as my photographs.
Thanks so much for doing this RED!

Apparently cameras have landed in the UK as well, expecting mine in the next few days.

Ordered mine 10 days ago and still haven't been charged. Wondering if anyone else is in the same boat.

PS. First time RED buyer long time renter. Excited to have a Scarlet to finally call my own!

Well, it wasn't me, but I do understand.
I was one of the first RED ONE reservations and had to give her up. When I saw this deal on Scarlet I JUMPED. Then added touchscreen, 64gb card & reader, side handle, batteries... and damn I'm in the hole. Especially after I add 2 years of the Armor warranty...
Its a great deal, but I don't know if it's justified for me... And I gotta tell you I sweating it a bit. Cinematography/Photography are not my full livelihood so the thought of having to turn around and sell her as I receive her has, unfortunately crossed my mind. I really don't know what I am going to do...

Just throughout I'd chime in...

Best,
J
