Simple question, i know its a old design, but what happened to CF for scarlet? Please dont just say data rates, as he was saying 120fps at 3k which is a little more data than 3k at 48fps (and probs more than 4k)... I also know red has reduced the price on SSDs (thanks red!) but it would still be nice to use CF.

Yes, i think we are on very different pages... what's not to understand about "it got axed" ?

Why fragment development with multiple types of media having to be supported? Keep it simple. SSDs are where it's at.

Because i didnt ask "Where can i get one are they available", i already got shot down for that question. I asked "What happened to them".

Yep, you still misunderstand. Im not asking for one, i want to know what happened. Why is the simple questions hard to ask here on RU?

Dude, no one outside of RED really has a detailed idea of their reasons for not releasing certain products. If you really want to know, email your bombsquad rep or call them and see if you can get some answers. Not really sure why it really matters so much. Development fragmentation is a pretty good reason to discontinue the CF cards, IMO.

I think with CF they often had the critique that you couldn't have long enough takes or recording times.
And I think they went as far as they could with the CF technology, because I remember a post here once - I think by Jarred, and I could be wrong - that they had some trouble making higher capacity CF cards with the speed and reliability that they were searching for.
And their RED Drives could have dropped frames when shooting in a lot of motion.

SSD was the natural evolution. It give them much higher recording times, much higher data rates and maybe a higher reliability.

I will. It might not matter to you, but it does to me.

Hahaha yeah I can't wait to hear what they say. :sifone:

Maybe we can also get them to spill the beans on the Dragon.. ooo and Redmote Pro!

Yeah, I think 'It got axed' is the only reply that can be expected to this question.. SSDs are the way to go. Or else and external recorder
