  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

In the new version of firmware has RED fixed the inability to move around within the magnified area? Thanks guys!

Nate if you are still reading I was wondering if one day we may see the zoom mode enabled during record (obviously only on assistant or operator monitoring) or if it is something not likely to be doable... Knowing it is on the list would already make me happy :-)
 
Hey Mikael, unfortunately it isn't possible to have the camera trigger magnify while rolling. Personally I am quite fond of the "Focus" tool while rolling... similar to peaking. :)
 
Thanks Nate. Yes focus and edge can help in most situations but 1:1 is more precise for critical situations.

At least I know not to wait for this one in every new build...

the in-camera magnify mode does zoom 1:1 on sensor pixels, that is a massive zoom on a 5K image ! Sure 1:1 zoom on a 1080 signal is better than nothing but I always hoped we'd get real 1:1 zoom while recording on Epic after understanding it was just not possible to achieve on a RED One. :-(
