  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

ADOBE PREMIERE 6 --- I HAVE NO WORDS ....

Well....on CS 5.5 i get kind of crappy playback in my timeline....My timeline is setup with a Matrox preset for 1920x1080p with mixed RED, AVCHD and prores files...I'm running a RR card and Quadra 4000 on my mac pro and get really stuttered playback...BUT, i do get my external monitors playing off of my Matrox MXO2---one via HDMI to my 50" Plasma and the other via dual SDI to a converter for single link 3g to my FSI 24" monitor....that part works brilliantly...all in 5.5 (with the exception of what i would call just crappy playpback).....

CS 6: I get FANTASTIC playback with NO stuttering....However there are no longer any options when setting up a sequence to choose Matrox MXO2 settings....so, i've tried a generic 1080p and RED sequence all at 1080p....and get NO external monitoring to my Matrox or through my Matrox to my "other" monitors.... I believe another user said --teh OP that is...that he is getting playback on his BM card...HOW IS THAT? anyone got a clue or a way to get MATROX playback?

CS6 has done away with all of those presets... you just choose any preset now. You must set up which card/hardware in preferences now, that's it! In a few weeks Matrox will have new Utilities that will work perfectly. In the meantime, I'm using my CS5.5 utilities with no problems, although the boys at Matrox do advise against that!

anyone having trouble opening the z7 file?

ive installed 7 zip but no such luck. anyother free zip software programs that have worked for this file?

You don't need to open it. Just run the .exe file and it will decompress the z7 file for you.

Curt,
did you copy over a file then to 6? if so....which one? thanks

That's just it....there is NO LONGER any Matrox settings available in CS 6.0....unlike 5.5...where i have a full Matrox folder of presets--I beileve another user stated that this was not longer going to be necessary with CS 6.

Hey guys,

Please remember you are early so not all the information is out there. In CS6 we got rid of the need for hardware players (i.e. presets). They will all use the mercury playback engine. HOWEVER, you will need drivers from our 3rd parties. So hold tight just a bit longer. Glad you guys are enjoying it, however ;)

Cheers

Dave

This certainly renders in sharp relief, the deficiencies both in development and marketing over at Apple. They best get their asses moving not just to stay afloat, but to even keep their boat in the race.

Way to push it Adobe. Your performance trumps their interface and the functionality of the suite is immense. Your interface improvements are nice and apparently the overall experience across the suite is likewise improved. Keep at it.

Can we hope for app consolidation in the near future?

Folks, Luigi is correct is saying he has no words, with all CAPS. This is totally unreal.

And with the new E5-2690 CPU's and a ton of RAM, it rips through these files giving you the feeling you can punch through a steel wall with your fist. Unreal.

Joe

CS6 is amazing!!!! Now just add red color3/redgama3 and we have the most complete NLE on the market!!!! hope it doesn't take as long to implement the new color science as it did to implement audio.... ;-p (just a friendly dig ...but seriously, great job on CS6!!!!)

man...and the gtx 690 card was announced today...I hope it sees both GK104s!

I was given a sneak peek and have been successfully running CS6 Production bundle on this system.

Early Mac Pro 2008 3,1
2 - 3. Xeons
24 GB ram
Quadro 4000
Maxx Digital raid array (750MB/sec.)
Lion 10.7.3

I get full 4K Red playback at 1/2 resolution (which is 2k)
Playback using the Kona 3 outputting HD SDI to my engineering / client monitor is flawless.
AE loves the Ram and 4000.
its a thing of beauty!

Nice. I have a machine with a similar setup, except a GTX285. Glad to hear it's working well.

Hi Luigi,
Do you still use a GT 9600 as your UI card in Resolve and CS6 and the 590 for calculation in windows and lion...
