  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Who wants to shoot in Egypt?

awesome Norm. Mohammed is trying to buy my LED kit but shipping is INSANE to Cairo... may be someone can fly with them???

I will definitely go in May after I graduate.

That would be the best graduation present ever!
 
Have shot in Egypt. Had a big company behind us. We were forced to rent gear from "connected people" most of it didn't work. Finding hard working knowledgeable local crew was it's own special fun.
If you can finance Lighting, Grip, Sound, etc available in Egypt. And get together good local crew, for outside companies you may do very well since bringing our own stuff is such a mess there.

The whole industry is F'd up. That's why I built my own company. I normally need to rent very little equipment (huge HMIs some mics thats about it). I dont work with anyone in the industry. I only rent my stuff to independant projects. I was the first to get the Epic in Egypt and never rented it. I work with a crew of young graduates and talented amateurs. We're trying to break the mold.
I'm sorry your experience was bad but I promise you if one day you work with us, you'll find out that we're one of the hardest working, most honest and straight forward group you'll ever work with.

Can you shoot a small piece explaining why I will not likely get kidnapped and or murdered if I go to Egypt. Likewise for any place where Sharia Law is in effect.

In Egypt they only shoot people if they're wearing hoodies . . .

I was in Egypt a few months ago, no problems whatsoever. I'm sure Mohamed will steer you clear of the trouble spots if you ever decide to go.

With that attitude getting murdered should be a concern anywhere in the world :)

Sharia law is not in effect and never has been in Egypt.
I went to the US and I must say I felt like I was treated horribly sometimes just for having a name like Mohamed.
I've been all around Europe and I never saw that kind of behavior.
What got me through those times when I felt that I was being judged when I really didn't do anything wrong, is that I know they did it out of fear and ignorance not out of hate.
I'm sure it's the same in your case.
PS. I feel a hell of a late safer in Cairo than in NY. One of the most beautiful cities I've ever been to though. Rivals Bangkok in my opinion. I'm young so I like my cities a bit hectic.

Don't let a couple ignorant folks get in your head. Heck, we don't even know our own laws and history over here much less the rest of the world. Egypt is a great and proud country that has seen some great and difficult times . . . but then that happens in a place that has been civilized for over 5000 years.

Mohamed do you see Turkey on the map? its looks clean right no sharia? bet everyone knows Turkey as a most modern islamic country in the world.but its not like on the paper.go to the east side of Turkey and you ll see lots of honor killings because of islamic laws and sharia.

And people who have issues with their idea about safety and laws, please don't go. Im sure Mohammed have many who would love to come.

Right now we're working on a feature. I made another thread looking for a DOP for that and I think we're already pretty close to reaching our decision.
After that is done I talked to a lot of people who want to come here to shoot their own stuff and I've been in contact with them to try to get them all here individually when I can.
The offer is kind of closed now since I got so many people that I already committed to bringing them here at one point.
I'll post another thread for available spots on set when I can. ( paid of course )
