2 RED Ones, just upgraded to build 30; We can't seem to slave up the time code between them. Any suggestions? Thanks!

More info on how your are trying to jam the audio would be helpful.

Also master and slave mode and jam synced are two different things.

Sorry, its not for audio, its for time code between the cameras...we need the settings/frames on each camera to match...I assume that is Master/Slave?
thank you for your help!
:)

For TC or Genlock two R1 you need an external TC generator, you can find the recomended one in the manual.

USB gives you "only" look settings, start-stop, FrameRate...

Thanks! seems like we have it; we do have a denecke device, but it looks like usb cable and a menu manipulation was all we needed...so far...i appreciate the suggestions!

If you just want to match Timecode you can select "Output" (don't select Jam) in the System/Project/Timecode menu on one camera and use that as a source to "Jam" to on another. On the second camera select Jam but not Output in the Timecode menu. You can keep a cable hooked up between them, or at least re-jam after each camera re-boot. All of that is thru the 5-pin Lemo connector for Timecode.

Addendum: 6/9/10
I wrote this above previous to some tests I have done since. If you use the above procedure you are likely to have a timecode offset. Usually it is 2 frames based on my experience and that of some of my friends, there is a latency going from one camera to another. The best way to sync 2 RED ONE cameras is 2 Clockits or Deneke TC boxes hooked up and use the sync out of the box to the genlock as well as TC.

Unless its been fixed I'd avoid the Master/Slave because there is a slight risk of never writing the Slave Camera's File during POST. Just create a Run Switch that connects to both Lemo Ports/

If you are only worried about matching timecode, the basics with 2 cameras is the same as double system audio, you will never start everything at the same time. Just make sure to give yourself plenty of heads and tails on the different cameras and audio recorder (if applicable) and sync it up in edit. Find your common reference in the takes but not at the start.

Brian will this method work. I used two camera for mutliple camera shoot for a song of a feature film using Output from one camera and jammed it to other camera. The real problem is when we sync in edit using TOD we are not getting the same action.

DO I know what would be reason?

We used two XLR cables and wired based on recommendations provided in your manual for TimeCode.

Did the Chain Symbol for TC Jam come up in the LCD or EVF?
