  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

iPad 3

I'm so damn excited about this iPad and its resolution!! This is huge for all of us who make high-resolution films.

The whole "post PC" shtick is complete horseshit, though.

Anandtech has a nice comparison of Asus Transformer Pad Infinity and The New iPad: http://www.anandtech.com/show/5650/the-new-ipad-vs-asus-transformer-pad-infinity-in-specs. Will be interesting to see how they stack up. iOS still has a major advantage over Android 4 in terms of tablet apps though. There were a whole bunch of 1920x1200 tablets at CES 2012, they should all be coming in short order to follow up Asus and Apple. Samsung's coming with a 2560x1600 Galaxy Tab to go with a 1920x1080 Galaxy S III. All a bit ridiculous really.

... :)

but then, it´s going to be a 4k world soon, i hear the word ... ;-)

... and by the way, writing this from my ipad2 ...
woulnd't it be GREAT if they announced an upgrade path ... to ipad3 ... full price and so ...

hehe ... ;-))

... i feel privileged to write here, on reduser ... :)

... depending on the scale, its actually already true.

i have always lived on the latest, thickest, fullest, fastest machine(s) ....
since i've got the ipad2 ... the laptop stays home ... and the workstations come in for ... work! ... with multi screens and so forth ...

i find myself dowloading productivity apps, like graffle and keynote to the ipad ... as well as creative tools.

... and although they are much less powerful and in baby early release compared to desktop/laptop apps ...
i like em, cause it supports my thinking and creation process riding on the berlin tram or a plane or what not ...

;-)
good idea capture tools ...

Move past PC fine, but don't restrict my control and customization. I feel more and more is left up to apple and out of our control to tweak and that bothers me. The idea of my work computer, especially for grading and editing, to work like an Iphone greatly disturbs me, now some sort of hybrid where I can switch between "you do the thinking for me" or "I want the control", great! The most frustrating thing about my iPhone is the limited ability to undo(for an example of lack of control), I recently broke my wrist and began using my phone to write more. I have probably deleted more text due to the apps errors than I have written, the blame could be placed on me for mistyping or having pudgy fingers but that is still a part of making a workable product is getting around those things. I know most likely my fault and yes I'm over exaggerating where things will go, it's just marketing like this from one of the worlds leading tech companies makes me feel worried about where our computers and electronics are being driven and to serve what purpose making our lives easier or making their lives easier?

I grew up with computers my whole life from DOS to OSX (I know I missed all the good stuff in the k-pro days) I don't want my kids to grow up in a world of apps to apps and when they look back on what I did in windows or even OSX as almost computer programming compared to what they know. I understand ease of use opening up to wider audience and all that, but taking the control out of our hands can be extremely detrimental, no manual controls in digital camera's seem familiar?

Iphones and Ipads are great on the run and for doing some really interesting tasks computers could never do before, but could never replace my desktop PC (that I can build take apart and repair on my own), then again it is just marketing so... plus I've been a little scatterbrained these days due to the pain and all so it could be that!

have a good one and here's to bright and clear future, and to be fair I'm more a 1000 years into the future guy not 10 or 20 so what do i know!

Post PC is shorthand for, screw you, no we're not gonna release a new Mac Tower. ever.

play with this shiny bauble instead.

sadly, like all children, I'm madly drawn toward the bauble and will buy one.

Plays full screen video high quality ?

Plays full screen video high quality ?

I'll get one if I can encode something at 2048x1536 ( full screen ) at a decent h264 bitrate and play the media at 24fps on it.
Can this be done ?
Otherwise I'll stick with my old one.

Ahem,

Anyone want to buy an iPad 2 from me?

(i just ordered the shiny bauble..........)

Damn, I am so ashamed of myself..................... :)

Good luck with that. Without the infrastructure of iTunes, it's an uphill battle.

The hell-spawned 'infrastructure of iTunes' is the main reason why I won't own an iAnything that hasn't been cracked, hacked, jailbroken, unlocked, and generally liberated.

If I wanted to surrender that degree of control to any organization I'd do it properly and join a religious cult.

Don't like Apple, but I am in the cult of iPad. Just ordered a three to replace my "1"... I like to skip version generations, like some diseases do. Anyway, looking forward to higher resolution, more cpu power and Skyping with my grandkids. BTW, Christmas gifts for my three kids was whatever a iPad3 costs. They all emailed me with their bills... Don't make promises that you'd rather not keep. Just kidding, putting them on Amex now...

No, no it isn't. The fact of the matter is that a majority of people with use tablets and smartphones as their main computing device well before your prediction of 4K home delivery takes place. I wouldn't be surprised if people in the west already spend more time on their smartphones/tablets than they do their laptops/desktops...
