  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet does not switch to redvolt when mains power is pulled - version 3 firmware

Last I heard, which could be outdated information now, is that some people experiencing this problem were asked to send only their sidehandle back. I hope that's the case. I would be unhappy if the camera they shipped yesterday has a problem they know can only be solved by returning the camera.

It requires sending the camera and side handle back, FYI. Had a similar problem ourselves.

I got my handle way before nov 3rd, it works fine,
i sounds like RED neds to issue a recall for this problem

My handle hasn't shipped yet, but maybe I shouldn't update?
For me it's happened with all three available Scarlet firmwares. It sounds like a "you have it or you don't" type problem up to this point... the chance of a firmware update causing the issue on your cam (if it isn't already present) is low.

I have a Scarlet, and an early side handle: handle ordered August 30th, shipped October 25th.

It has always swapped from rear power to side handle REDvolt, and back again, without a single glitch - including with latest 3.0.0 firmware. You pull the plug, it keeps on running. There's definitely something wrong if this doesn't work.

EPIC plus quad battery module arrive tomorrow; I'll do tests with them too.

We turned in a ticket a couple of weeks ago and the reply was to send the brain and side handle back in. We are just waiting to try the new firmware and for our second camera to arrive before sending it right back in.

I have this issue, they have asked me to send the side handle back. From Singapore, so this means at least 2 weeks with basically no camera.

Does is matter if the cam started with a REVOLT in and then added the rear power or vice versa?

Just received the side handle. Same issue. I tried both, redvolt first, AC power first, the cam just shutoff.
The other issue i have is the battery that is constantly poping out from the red plastic lock-mechanism.
How long is the warranty? Does it begin when we order or when when we receive it?

My hot swap doesn't work either. Don't relish the idea of sending it back to the US from Australia though, so will just work around it.

Yes, same here from europe. My scarlet was a useless brick for 2 monthes. I finally received the side handle. I guess I will accept it and try to send it before the warranty ends, when i will be in an editing process.
