  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The List - Please maintain

Liam, don't take this the wrong way, but I have to ask - you have contacted FedEx and arranged to pay the import duties and GST right? Once you pay Duties and GST and get 'International shipment release' status on your tracking notices you should get the package delivered the next day, or the day after that at the latest. Surely the package shouldn't take five days between arriving in Alexandria and being delivered to you (even with a public holiday thrown into the mix)?

Hi Les, re wrong way :) No, not all. Thanks for caring! :)

I assumed the main problems is that with our New Years holidays falling on a Sunday they have actually had to make up the public holidays on other days. Today just passed, was Tuesday the 2nd, and it was considered a public holiday also. Fedex stated 3rd as estimated delivery.

That said, I have only ever had to have one item cleared by customs before and they notified me, I got a "First Notice" then I paid. So I assumed this is how the system works? I'll call tomorrow and see if I can lodge a form/pay now? Thanks.

Best
Lliam

Jeffrey, I just want to send you my Scarlet so you can get your fix.

It's kind of heartbreaking watching you wait.

:(

Thanks Michael, I appreciate it. All of your guys' footage is making the wait worth it though.

I don't mean to break any hearts though, it's just something I'm insanely passionate about, as I'm sure everyone is. My life literally teeters on work in here available in Colorado, which isn't much, but I do have a passion for sports so that has made my experiences somewhat more narrowed so branching out has been something of a longer transition than I expected. Good news is I got some emails for a Cinematographer at 5 this morning. Really hoping this is the week!

I have a feeling there will be a mass allocation tomorrow.

Aren't they closed today? The 2nd?

Well mine's been at my LOCAL Fedex since friday...grrrr...

Apparently because of the holidays, they didn't bother to take the pallet that its in apart, so even though it's "here" I couldn't even go pick it up.

Thats the only problem with FedEx, and why I regularly try to avoid there services. If they don't feel like delivering, even if it was on the truck...They won't. I had an important package once that I needed that day, and the driver decided to take the rest of the day off starting at 3 p.m., even though they were supposed to work and deliver until 7. I went to the facility and they wouldn't let me have it. I had to make several phone calls to higher ups, then finally made someone come back to work at 7:20 so I could pick it up. If you ever need a package, just call there corporate offices to get on there employees if they didn't deliver.

Aren't they closed today?

Yeah. Unfortunately, Red is closed today (Jan 2nd).

Perhaps the built up rest will slingshot their output this week for you, Jeffrey.

With SO# 50926, I'm chomping at the same bit.

Yeah tell me about it. Mine has been shipped all the way to Australia, only to sit two hours away from where I live for the past 5 days. Though may just be a gorgeous paper weight in any event unless I'm one of the lucky side handlers...

As to highest SO number, technically I was SO 909... but I believe I was adjusted due to phone order and I think mine was allocated around twelve hours before Jarek's from the posts... So 888 is prob still the bench mark.

Hope you all get that email soon!

Hey Liam your PM is full! Just wanted to check your info. You're SO 909 and it's already shipped? Thanks...

Hey Justin,

Damn inboxes fill up so fast!

Yes been in Aus for five days -- SO 909 - but unfortunately you can't take too much form that as I was a phone order that RED adjusted which means I was probably closer to around the 870 mark or so from what I can tell. But, definitely one more down!

To be fair on Fed Ex this most probably isn't a problem of there making, it's our customs service. Been a regular importer of stuff our custom service is pretty good but they are public servants. Hence since Xmas eve there have been only 2 business days worked, last Weds & Thurs. I'm not sure how much 'self assessing" Fed Ex would be given with an item of this value. So today, Jan 3, is a full working day hence things should start moving. From memory Les is right, they will contact & ask to pay GST plus other charges via credit card and only then will they despatch. I'm trying to remember if you can expedite this by picking up yourself once you receive the GST notice. Maybe other Aussie Epic owners can chime in here. As painful as it is I reckon tomorrow or Thurs will be "the day".

So Liam you mailbox is full ! Need your lawns mowed, dog walked, house painted, 2nd storey addition, new swimming pool with a bali cabana. It's all yours for the taking with everyone obviously dying to hold it or have a go on it & prepared to make any outrageous offers to make it happen. I'm still thinking about my offer, Congrats !

Yes been in Aus for five days --

Hey Lliam,

Not sure how it works in AUS but because my order was over $1000.00 NZ customs required me to apply for a temporary importers number, this process takes a minimum of 24 hrs. They send that number direct to FEDEX. Once attained FEDEX tax the total value of the shipment from the invoice statement on the outside of the box including the shipping cost. X that by GST (15%) and add the customes fee ($36.00) here.

I had to contact customs myself to get this process going....there should be duty officers on 24/7 so I would definitely pick up the phone..

Good Luck Mate!!

This is the same for Canada, but once you know your shipping number, you can call fedex and send in the paper work ahead of time. This way when the package comes up it is processed right away. If you don't do this step and your a company, you can expect 5 days longer!!!!!

Best bet, regardless of where you live, if you have not imported regularly then call them to see if anything is required.

I took that to mean that when they were open, they weren't lulling around. They were in full production.

It could mean any number of things. Reading it it again, I think Elsie meant the lull between now and Stage 3 cameras shipping, and so Brent may have just meant that despite stage 2 being done and Stage 3 not yet begun, they are still building cameras in the mean time. Who knows...

I think it was obvious there was a lull, as stage 2 Epics slowed down in shipment, as scarlet came on line. Brent might have meant that they have always been producing cameras. Just failed to mention if they took people or resources off the epic line and moved them to the scarlet line. This of course is all speculation. And I do not believe they were open or making cameras at all over the break. There were no allocations during the 3 days between the holidays.

Great point, something I was also going to point out when it was mentioned they were working over the holidays. I did get a allocation email for my 5" touchscreen last week though...

If that's the case, you could be right and it's FedEx themselves getting held up by the customs service taking holidays, I hadn't considered that. I just know from experience that FedEx doesn't always let you know when there's a package held up waiting for you to pay duties on it, and even when they do notify you, it's possible for you to ring them up and just pay by credit card over the phone before the notification actually arrives. That's just the way it is sometimes, no system is perfect. So basically, to keep things moving as quickly as possible, as soon as you see on your online tracking notices that the package has arrived at the Alexandria processing center, start calling them with your tracking number and credit card or payment details ready, instead of waiting for an e-mail notification that might not arrive or for an invoice/notification to arrive in the mail.

RED was closed today. Maybe tomorrow.

Hey Mike, John, Les and others,Thanks guys. I called Fedex, they said it had just cleared customs, and I was on their list to be contacted today. But by calling as Les advised, they accepted my CC payment and I got it done immediately. And who knows if they would have actually got a round to calling me today? I'm sure they must get a bit of backlog this time of year. I then quizzed the girl and she advised the best thing to do is to register online with Fedex for declaration notifications and you will receive an email as soon as it clears customs. http://www.fedex.com/au/rope/

And Mike if you want to get your hands on scarlet soon. I'm doing a bit of a writers retreat from the 7th till 17th Byron Bay way. But after that I'll be around on the Central Coast again, your in Newcastle area or am I getting confused? Anyhow more than happy to meet up and you can put the girl through her paces, I'm sure I'll learn a thing or two :) Presuming (I have the means to operate her by then!:))

So... SCARLET ARRIVES TOMORROW! And it's only a day awaaaaaay :emote_happyhappy:

Best
Lliam
