  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Backorder Update - November 8

Ok.. time for an update :)

PRO/IO - Production tooling finally kicked off. Still needs FCC certification when it comes out of fab, which means Likely April.

is this a clue?

Would a wired only I/O box need FCC certification? Are we transmitting?

After reading post after post requesting something like this, it seems the takeaway for RED is that we want a unified, easy to monitor solution for updates. We're not asking you guys to update any more than you already are, but do it in a way that's more visible. There's no sense in making an update post in a thread that's quickly buried, only to have users asking for more because they weren't aware updates had already been posted.

RED's communication with customers is without a doubt one of the most transparent in the industry, but it would certainly help to have it more organized and visible. It's a full time job keeping tabs on every thread that a RED employee might post in, and I see no reason why it needs to be.

After all, isn't this the purpose of Recon and Crucial Ordinance?

Every electronic component can create radio emissions. The classic case of TVs signalling the emergency broadcast frequency being an example of this.

i received my Tactical Top Plate today. But have not installed it yet as i can't seem to remove the fan cover. I was given 2 torx drivers with my Epic, 1 for the lens mount and 1 for the side plate, but these do not fit the screws in the fan cover. What size of torx do i need to get to remove the fan cover?

thanks... overhopefull and not thinking it through. Also trying to make sense of the delivery date.

Also figureing it would be cool for the I/O module to extend beyond wires

Soon all of that will be on Scarlet. Can't wait.

Today was a good day for Phil :)

I thought about making something somewhere permanent.. but we are hoping this isn't going to be a permanent situation.. just a couple more months and backorders will be the exception rather than the norm.

Haha! I missed these! Thanks for posting them guys! There were many funny poses. For a moment there I felt like a supermodel :)

AMEN TO THAT!! Just make the updates more visible. Maybe Jim could start a locked thread that is simply updates?

Congrats, Phil!

Oh, and <cough>modular assault plate?

this pretty much answers all inquiries. we are talking a couple months now folks... unreal job TEAM RED!

Congratz Phil. Either you're a giant or that thing is much smaller than I thought. Surely you're what 6'5?

I'm 5'6". Scarlet X on it's own is not very big. Which is a good thing. Once rigged out it's going to be bigger, but not compared to any film rig I've used.

I would like to believe that there will be no backorders in a couple of months, but with dragon, both versions of the redbeam projectors, both versions of the redrays, 645 etc. etc.. (some more amazing surprises) coming our way, I think it will simply stay the RED way... Backorders at RED are part of the RED DNA. It proves that they are pushing the limits of everything. The minute there are no backorders, means that RED stopped pushing all limits at once. Which also means its time to visit Jim and Jarred and talk some insanity back to them ...

I therefore would also vote for a unified, centered, "recon" or "cruicial ordonance" locked post with regular updates on backorders, ideally twice a month.
Thank you for considering.

I love a dry sense of humor.
