  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED Mote Pro

I bet we won't see it till they release their own electronic lenses. I have no idea when that will be but with everything else going on I would expect to wait awhile.

If you are talking about touch screen follow focus, it's coming.
We will definitelly see a wide range of electronic lenses before we will ever seen Epic 28k sensor. :-)

Jarred said that they are on it. It will be epic (his words). :001_tt1:
I hope they bring it very soon. What's the point of a Canon mount with out a real FF that has a longer focus throw, Birger style.
Pulling focus is the single most important thing on any camera. Autofocus lenses have a very narrow focus throw. It's damn hard to pull proper focus on them. A wireless FF with dial in throw is key here. The Birger Mount can do it. It works great. We need this on the Scarlet and Epic. Only then we got the perfect system. If RED can pull this of the RED style then they smoke everyone out of the water big time. It's really the most important feature of all. They covered all the rest all ready.

This is the last big step. I know Jarred can here me, hehe.

Me too... look forward to RedMote Pro arriving the same day as my matched pair of RED Full-Frame Electronic Zoom lenses and RED Full-Frame Monstro Scarlets.

It'll be the most awesome and cost-effective stereo system ever.

Well, until they do that 28K light-field camera thing where you can take an many different views from the same lens!

Jason, you going to join me in celebration when that day comes? Hopefully before 2014?

Am I the only one loving PL manual glass? I dunno, seems more like a wink to the past while leaping into the future.

I love PL manual glass but don't love having large motors and expensive stuff attached to just to pull focus for stereo! Or steadicam, or on a jib, or a crane, or on a car mount, or on a RC plane...

Either that or I need to find super-skilled identical twin focus pullers (one for each eye) who think alike on every shot of my movie :)

I know two, and they are twins, Identical girls. Filmmakers - no dirty jokes they are nice girls.

One thing this needs is a BIG focus distance readout. Since the markings on auto-focus lenses are pretty much worthless, a nice clear readout on both monitor, which I believe there already is, and follow focus unit would allow you to actually measure focus. Even better if it had a GUI that mimicked the markings on a cine lens like this http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?65930-Seeing-focus-with-the-wireless-FSTOP-and-iPhone. I think the coming Redrock unit also has a DOF scale for your given f-stop and focus distance. That would be great too.

I could really use this early next year, wish they would give an ETA on the RMP

Obviously estimates are never good but would be awesome to see a video of a prototype in action or something...just want to know its alive and going to be coming very soon,

With that said though, they better make them in the 1000s before they even announce shipping since I can only imagine the number of people willing to jump for one of these...especially if they are priced right

Only reason I avoided PL mount for Canons instead, at least until RED make electronic PL mount lenses

Everyone can already do this with the many options avail. Even with Canon glass you can program the throw on current wireless FF units to adjust for scale of throw.

shoot with what's here now don't wait for the future it will be here soon enough.

I am with you on that, I love working with Red, and I love how simple(relatively) it is to shoot and work with your footage immediately with digital workflow, but there is something about the tactile mechanical nature of the lens that is rewarding to work with. I like the idea of knowing that there is no 1's or 0's between the lens and the sensor, instead it is my hand, my reliable muscle movements as an important step. *snif* it makes me feel like I am earning the shots that are being taken.
