  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

November 3rd...

Honestly if Canon doesn't have something like the Scarlet, they'll still do well. TONS of folks won't give a care what Canon's announcing, but if the Scarlet is for whatever reason outside my price range or I realize the computer power and hard drive space and everything else that goes with it is too much to acquire...Canon might still be an option. I'm guessing an inferior option in comparison, but still.

If RED got the Scarlet price right though, you could see (for better or for worse) REDUSER.net becoming the new DVXuser.com. That's terrifying and in some ways exciting...but I see Scarlet if the price is right taking RED from exclusive to inclusive for lower budget indie folks like myself. If I'm not mistaking, that's something they're trying to do.

See you all Nov. 3rd.

Jim

I think RED has always been that thing that blew my mind and I knew was changing things, but the Scarlet could be what truly revolutionizes the film industry even more-so than the EPIC. NOT COMPARING SPECS, but the revolution feels like how it was when the DVX came out and broad mass market 24p to folks who wanted more film-like images. I feel like I'm sinning almost comparing the Scarlet to the DVX100, but those who know how things changed around that time know what I'm talking about.

Two words: thank you. I've been working toward a personal film for quite some time, and I decided the very afternoon it was first announced at NAB that I would shoot my movie on Scarlet. This is my first post, but I have visited RedUser every day for the last three years, digging for the latest Scarlet updates. It has been FUN! I've learned a great deal from this wonderful community, and I'm completely sold on the concept of Red. There have been ups and downs, but I have truly believed in this project since, literally, day one and I have enjoyed every minute spent following its development.

So thank you for a fun, educational three years. While I feel like I've been part of the Red family for quite some time, I can't wait to officially join later this year : ).

See you November 3rd!

See you all Nov. 3rd.

Jim

Jim's excited... I think the amount of replies in this post (in such a short time) show this :)

Really looking forwards to seeing the specs.news... and ordering a Scarlet!

Now, back to trying to convince my business partners and producer that we need an Epic this year...

My father ( Thomas Henry McVicar ) died tonight from ALS .

This is somehow fitting.

Thank you Jim.

I'm looking forward to it. A great step in RED history. A fun ride so far. And lot's to come. As things are now I will unfortunately not be among the first to order one. But I sure hope it will happen. I won't stop until it is so.
At least my editing workstation should be up to speed. :)

Now, where is that time machine again?

Congratulations Team Red - I've been following development of RED since the placeholder for RED.com went live. At no time have I been as excited as I am for the Scarlet final announcement and shipping info. Come Hell or high water, a RED camera is in my near future. So happy for you all.

Yeah..why not...announce the camera..show the camera and then show what it can do.

Besides it sounds like Canon is having an event...so one-up them with a better one.
