  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC-X begins...

Starting slow... let see :
30/day
10 days-> 300 EPIC's in the wild...
End of sept -> 600 EPIC's and more in the wild...
That's fast... not slow...
If the RED Scarlet Fixed will be produced at the same speed...

Starting slow and accelerating.

Jim

How many Epic-X stage 2's were sold in total?
Pretty sure that is closely held information, David. I doubt we will ever know, nor is it really any of our business.

Well, that information will not reveal any inside-technological secret, but can help us to gauge when, people from Stage 3, can potentially be receiving our cameras, so we can provide accurate quotes to the clients if Red One has been returned ( for trade-in purpose) to get our Epics. The price will be SIGNIFICANTLY higher. So that information is a very important one for them to have, so they can be ready for such figure.

I get that, but Jim and Jarred have said repeatedly that there will be enough advance information for people in Stage 3 to make their decisions, pay their deposits, and beat the price increase.

Stop worrying, people...RED has a history of taking care of people, not screwing them. I doubt that will change.

Tom,

I am not worry. Just trying to run a business with full credibility. That info will help on the quoting aspect. That is all...

Tom, with all respect, your entire statement couldn't be farther from the truth. Estimating Stage 2's would not be a too difficult an exercise - I would bet experienced folks could be within a 5% margin of error.

Secondly, for our firm and many others, it "is our business" - from a client-, rental house-, private/corporate owner-, and investment perspective - the supply of a valuable tool, and its subsequent demand is the basis of our profitability.

Without further high-jacking this thread or Jim's announcement, our Houston office is very excited about, and for, Stage 2 owners in the city.

Congrats to Jim on the timing of the release.

Keep up the great work Red.

I guess my question was misunderstood. I was just asking if anyone had a rough idea. There was a list going a while ago. I wasn't asking Jim , Jarred or anyone at RED. I know what has been said and I respect how incredibly busy everyone at RED must be right now.

Add together the informal Stage 2 and Stage 3 lists and you get almost exactly 500 cameras; add the 1,000 Epic-Ms out there for a total known (or expected) Epic demand of 1,500. With perhaps 9,000 Red Ones out there, do you think it's reasonable to assume that only 16% are adding Epic, upgrading to Epic or buying into a RED camera for the first time? Doubtful. What's certain is that NO ONE knows the exact demand for the X, not even RED, because Stage 3 has not yet even been formalized. No one has officially committed to it yet, let alone all those who may or may not follow after. It should also be clear, however, that the demand for the Epic is not in the hundreds, but in the thousands for now and eventually in the ten of thousands.

My apologies, David, if I took your quote the wrong way.

Jack, I totally understand why you (and everyone else) wants to know what the number is. I do too...I am not just some ivory tower academic...I am a future Epic owner, and it will be bought with my own $$$, for my own projects, and will have to generate income and ROI. And I agree, that we can probably make a pretty good educated guess. But the real-world sales totals fall into RED's proprietary business information. and I doubt you'll see anyone from RED willing to share that information.

We'll be able to judge that anyway when Stage 2 people start confirming their deliveries, R1 serials, and order dates.

And as Tom said, it's mostly a matter of curiosity now; RED will take care of us.

Top Mount Snapped =/

Top Mount Snapped =/

The new top.. new grill... plus additional mounting points for top mounting.

Jarred, our Epic's top mount snapped after we laid it into its Pelican case.
Is the new top mount re-enforced with a stronger design?

Yeesh...sorry to see that, Leo. Major bummer!

Sidenote: There are those pins again!

Medic! Was it showing signs of wear before it snapped?
