  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

DSMC side handle and Redmote

Justin, we estimate 3-5 business day processing time after we receive payment in full. Sometimes it is quicker, sometimes it is longer - all depends on volumes.

Thanks Brent..

I got mine 10 days ago and I really need the redmote next week!!!!
I am on a shoot next week in Barcelona with cranes, so the REDmote is a must for me.
We are shooting a big car manufacturer commercial.

Ive heard the estimate is minimum 2 weeks, then they send you an email, did you get an email yet?

Earlier in this thread, Keegan says:

Side Handles and Redmotes are shipping, we estimate they will be allocated to customers with delivered cameras about a week to 2 weeks max of receiving their camera. l

Min two weeks is very different than max two week estimate. Let's try to make sure to be consistent when indirectly quoting.

Michael- Id prepare for an alternate method of start/stop on the camera for your crane work. The redmote is ingenious, but not always reliable - yet, especially for start/stops. It works well for other things when you can hide the acquisition time with other people doing their work. Thats just my experience with my redmote.

Wow EPIC-M 1048 purchased MONDAY and
EPIC- M 549 Purchased 2 weeks before..

They're going out the door from RED in non-numerical order. It's crazy. I recieved #825 like 8 weeks ago. Saw a couple people with serial #'s lower than 400 get delivered after mine.

Anyway, it seems there's about 1000 EPICs out in the wild now. Or at least I recall Jim posting something to that effect the other day.

Back when I ordered, the time from payment to delivery was quite long, RED had my money for a month. Now it seems that once you pay, the camera ships in a day or two... My kit arrived with everything but the Bomb EVF and REDVOLT batteries. Still waiting on those. My Bomb EVF that I ordered in July of last year came up for delivery over a month ago.

Hey Jeff, nice to meet you, I read a lot of your posts and have really learned a lot.. I'm a RED Virgin and just reading your posts and the posts of others have really been a help..

Interesting about the serial numbers.. confusing, but interesting.. I love that you say a 1000 EPICS "in the wild", that is so funny.. It is like an animal.. well like a puppy, I want my puppy, I think it goes out today, but of course I fly out tomorrow to Chicago/NY for a shoot (thankfully they canceled the Africa portion until it cools down!)

How do you like the Bomb EVF and have you been through TSA security yet??

Once again, nice to meet you..

Took my EPIC through security 4 times now for 2 flights -- Twice here in Denver on the way out, once in Phoenix, the other in Seattle. Had a BOMB EVF with me on the Seattle trip, no issues. On the way out of Denver to Phoenix, a couple TSA guys were really geeked out over the camera. All good so far. EPICs and BOMB EVFs are traveling all over the place and I haven't seen or heard of anyone having problems.

BOMB EVF is nice, but I haven't used one that much -- I actually don't have one of my own, just borrowing here and there. The one I ordered last year, I left on order with RED and will probably have them put me back in line now. I guess it was foolish of me to pass on it, but I ordered it to go with my Stage-2 EPIC-X. I guess I was also hoping that the one that was paid for with my EPIC-M would've shipped by now. I knew better, but oh well...

Yeah, but you are required to take delivery of that one. Can't pass on it...

Correct, that's why I passed on the other one, until I know my EPIC-X is close. Actually I was hoping RED would ship me that one that's been on back-order forever and credit it toward my M kit and then let me take delivery of the other one down the road, when the one that goes with my M kit comes up for delivery. Essentially flip-flopping the two order positions. But no, and I understand, too much shuffling about on their end.

And witch solution do you recommend for start stop on cranes?

Are you going to have a wireless focus device? Usually that works pretty well for run stop. I'm sure you can rent one. Having said that, I don't know now well the Epic works with these FIZ set ups currently, I haven't even strapped my Bartec on my new Epic yet. Of course yoou still need the Redmote for changing settings etc.

Cool, nice to know RED has really been keeping up with the 2 week max!!
