  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

JJ Abrams...

Somehow this wouldn't feel like REDuser unless we had a handful of people getting upset that JJ Abrams was "cutting in line"... Come on, peoples! Ha!

Great job, Jim and co. Proud of y'all...
Joseph, I only count one person and he only casually mentioned it as an observation.

I think most of us realize that once cameras start shipping they will roll out on pallets, not individual boxes. Camera numbers 1 through 200 may go out the same day. At least, that is the vibe I get when reassured by Jim that we wouldn't believe how proficient they have become at getting cameras out the door.

I love Joseph's post. It's always fun to be lectured by a kid 1/2 my age. :w00t:

Just messing around . There are a lot more line jumpers than JJ. They are called Epic Ms... And they PAID for it.

More fantastic news. It just keeps coming Jim, thanks :)

"When I opened my first RED ONE package, it was like a sense memory. I hadn't felt that same thrill of absolute possibility since I was a boy, opening my first super 8 camera."

"When it came to added photography of Super 8, the RED ONE, without question, saved my ass." JJ.

BTW... JJ has dibs on the very 1st EPIC-X.

Jim

Great stuff! Looking forward to the X's shipping!

We can only hope that he will consider EPIC for the next Star Trek.

That would probably make my life. I'm a huge trekkie (or trekker), and I would love RED to be a part of it (though not forgetting Alexander Ibrahim's work with Phase II, of course).

Does that matter?

Hey Kristian,

Does a bit. To see a director actually buy something for themself shows they are personally and deeply interested in something special, rather than simply choosing one tool over another for their production.

As for the production process, doesn't make a bit of difference, but Red owners (of which you are now one!) are proud of their decision and happy to see respected creatives embracing the dream as well as the potential of what Red has to offer.

Maybe Christopher Nolan will be next. He makes great movies and imagine what he could do with an Epic. The Dark Knight darting around in 4k would be nuts!

Just wanted to add how amazing it is that many more people can now relate to this thrill than ever before by how RED has achieved this democratization of technology. I had the same feelings that JJ is speaking of when working with RED ONE's and then opening our EPIC-Ms. A few years ago, it all was so much further away. Thank you, Jim.

Well, they've already committed to film/Imax for Dark Knight and this is the last one he'll do ... so that won't happen (though they could, as Jim has stressed over and over again, rerelease in 4k because of film's native resolution) ...

But I see no reason why Inception 2 can't be shot in Epic 3D. Would be amazing and possibly one of the biggest blockbusters ever :-P

If the Red team can answer this -- does JJ already have a feature planned where he will be shooting Epic?
