  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New EPIC-M firmware build 1.6.12

My jaw dropped when I shot 120fps with HDRx in 2K.

The REDMOTE is crazy now - super fast and easy to change ANY setting, including adjustments to color - wirelessly.

This build is a whole new camera.

Nice!
Now I only need a couple of cameras to upgrade :-)

Very Nice......more frames and more storage are always a good thing!
I'm working onset now with 3-EPIC 3D rigs, 2-Alexa 3D rigs and two Sony 3D rigs....not ready to upgrade this week but very interested in other's results!!

Will there be an option for the Redmote to sleep with my wife while I go out with my girlfriend? It seems anything is possible with you guys?

Has anyone opened up a RedMag and looked inside to see which SSD it actually contains?

Could it be that the RedMag 1.8" 256GB SSD actually houses this Crucial 1.8" 256GB SSD ??

Philosophically speaking, the Japanese troubles are probably a good thing for me... vis a vis my cameras. This extra waiting time should mean that I will have a near-complete camera when deliveries take place. Thanks to all the M owners who are field testing the oft-added additional features.

(Just to be clear, I would gladly accept the Epic X without full features enabled... I'm just trying to find the silver lining:001_tongue:)

Oh Yeah. This is another reason why getting the Epic M was the best move I have made in a long time. Can't wait to test this out today in my prep for this weekends shoot.
Very very stoked.

Woohoo!

...Wish I would've noticed this *before* I poured the milk on my cereal. ...300fps. :)

Build 1.6.12 just went live in the support section for EPIC-M owners.

This is a pretty substantial firmware upgrade introducing 300fps max record speeds ( 2K ) , Anamorphic support, a massive REDMOTE upgrade, and in-camera black level calibration.

Log into your account to download.. and dont forget to read the instructions.. You need to update both the camera and REDMOTE separately.

This Firmware upgrade is free... as usual. Enjoy.

* REDcode optimizations
* 25p improvements for HD-SDI
* Side handle fw upgrade support
* Force_upgrade now auto-deletes upgrade package after upgrade
* 5K ANA, 4K HD, 4K ANA, 2K WS (high frame-rate record) resolutions added

Also... 256GB cards are now in stock shipping to EPIC customers. RED.COM.

Any idea when Redmotes will ship for the M owners that don't have one yet - could really use one for the underwater housing controls. Also any word on connecting the Redmote via a wire rather than RF since RF doesn't work very far underwater - we will probably be limited to the REDMOTE right next to the plastic backplate - could locate in better positions with a wire.

We've been shooting this build for a while and its amazing. Anamorphic support and 2k 300fps alone are incredible.

If I'm not mistaken once you update the REDMOTE to 1.6.12 you cannot roll back REDMOTE firmware to an earlier version. Not that you'd want to but it's important to know.

Wow, impressive upgrade! (apparantly it also enabled me to visit Reduser from Beijing, something I haven´t been able to for a few days - since I got here), can´t wait to get my a$$ back to Norway to try it out!

The next feature I hope for is playback!

Actually, only a handful of people left to get REDmotes to. You are near the top of that list, Michael :)

I know gut reaction is to download first, ask questions later. But, please, always do read the readme files/release notes on RED.com before doing so. You are right, Jason, we call out rollback warnings in both.

Did I mention the firmware upgrade is free? :)

heh heh heh. Glad you guys like it.
