EPIC-S...

As for the fps discussion - it seems all geared toward 24fps film and 30fps stuff with multipliers (48/60) - I am in HDPAL land most productions go to TV :/ will we have 25/50 fps options on the epics (scarlets)?

EPIC-S and Scarlet share code base with EPIC-X, meaning they run essentially the same software, so we can just read the manual RED has published:

Project timebase can be set to 23.98, 24, 25, 29.97, 48, 50, 59.94 fps; If you want to go away from that, VARISPEED, you can change it in 1 FPS increments from 1 fps to the maximum allowed by the current resolution / redcode combination.

So no issues whatsoever for us PAL folks.

Where is the line to pick a number to Epic -S ;) ?...It´s possible to plug a Canon EF mount in Epic- S like X series ?

No line at the moment for EPIC-S

I would assume that when the Canon EF mounts are out, they will work on EPIC M / X / S - am sure someone from RED will butt in if this is wrong. :-)

Fair point - or read the manual. Good call Pascal.

So...

First : I'll buy a Scarlet Fixed... And then... Give me a Nikon mount and I'll buy an Epic-S !!! The price range is just AWESOME !

The extent to which the S blows the F3 out of the water is almost comic. If Red didn't exist, you can imagine reading about a camera with these specs at this price range in a news site's cruel April 1st prank post.

Will this be it? Will this really be the moment I'll own a red camera? I'm looking into purchasing my next proper large sensor camera this fall, more concretely in November. Every year, this is the moment I need to bring my "A" game to the table, its my most important event coverage of the year, and that is the Macau Grand Prix http://www.vimeo.com/17118810 . I really hope to get an Epic S, a redrocket, Canon EF mount, SSD module and battery module to really up the standard of the coverage. Jim, Jarred, Red team, please make this possible!

Thanks so much for taking the time on this thread Jim. You made a lot of people happy by answering all these questions. And even though I'm taking over a Stage 3 whenever that time comes, I'm definitely interested in the Epic-S as well - I think price/specs ratio on that camera will be light years beyond anything in existence (though you could say that about Epic-X, Scarlet and even the M).

If I knew the Epic S could be upgraded to the Dragon sensor, I would be VERY excited about owning this Epic model.

Never mind... just backtracked and saw Jim's posts number 53 and 58. I'm staying with Epic X models.

Thanks for the update Jim.

Think EPIC-S will be my 2nd RED-camera (after Scarlet). :-)

Everything is, as expected for me. I'm assuming that since the assembly line is all ready to go that as soon as they have the parts, Epic-X will be flying out the doors. I doubt it'll take too long to fulfill existing Epic-X orders.

Jim - You said that the brain has to be "re-worked" for obvious reasons and this was also expected. Have you guys already started on this? My guess is no, because there are more pressing matters, but just wondering.

My guess is 5K at 60fps is for 2.40:1....No? Full sensor at 48fps???

Just askin because I know that when it hits the very first thing that will happen is all European shooters will be bombarding RED asking for those extra 2 frames at full sensor...

Believe me when I say we can take a hit on compression for those 2 frames, they mean so much re. slo-mo or HDRx...
